The other day I was talking with my brother-in-law. He had a conversation with a woman who had her own talk show on the radio about religion. She told him the end of the world was approaching, and that the signs are all pointing to it. She also said there are passages that have been decrypted in the Jewish Bible (sorry dont know the proper name for it) that tell of this.
Now after listening to all this from him it got me wondering. We have an interesting date upcoming, June 6th. You should be able to know why this date is interesting. Was just wondering if anyone thought about this specific date and might something happen?

I'm not at all about predicting Jesus's second coming/end of the world. It actually saddens me a bit when I see and hear of people who spend all of thier time trying to figure out when the second coming is happening, instead of enjoying the life God has for us. Espically when I believe it was Jesus himself who told people, probably the people of his time who were trying to figure out the end of the world, that he would come like a thief in the night, and the time isn't to be known. That kind of stuff. Not to mention the fact that theres alot more we should be consering ourselves with in the mean time, at least in my humble opinion.
If I recall my biblical lit class correctly, I think there have been numerous interpretations of end time prophecies which have been fullfilled for a long time now. I'm talking like 70AD kind of deal.
And the Jewish Bible is the Torah or Christian Old Testament.
Yes, the end of the world is near. I need to say that number 666 has nothing to do with end of the world so don't be worry about June 6th
Beware of Antichrist (he was probably born in 1978).
I defianately live for now. MY kids are the most important thing to me, it's just that my brother-in-law got me to thinking.

I've been saying my older brother was evil for years growing up, now I have proof!
But for real, is there any significance to the year 1978?
Not that I know of, it's probable seba's birthdate
i think it could will be happen...The religions and science says it's not to far and i belive it because all of resourcers finish soon and ozane layer's destirtion etc...
Well, defenitly, but perhaps not in the way we think of it. Seeing how people live we're for sure reaching an end, at least of the world as we know it. But I do think it'll still be around for a while, with life in a form we don't know about today
| Sebaci wrote: |

I heard somewhere that Antichrist was born in 1978, but I'm not sure. But I know he exist in the world now, and he's going to rule China. He will be a liar, and will be talking that he's Jesus and people will believe in that.

Oh man, you're just a youngen
I'm just hasseling ya bro. In the words of a large wise man, " I got nothing but love for ya baby." And Im guessing that you wont get that either because of the culture(is it denmark?) or age differnce.
I think that the 1978 might come from when the church was totally convinced that marilyon manson was the anti-christ. If I'm recalling right, he was born about that time. I don't think he'll end up ruling china though.
Anybody know what year Kanye West was born? With all this recent talk about he should be in the bible and crap like that, maybe its him.
Well, the end of the world can come whenever. It comes when Jesus Christ makes His second coming. Commonly called the "rapture." We don't know when it will happen.
Basically, the Christians are taken from Earth into Heaven by God. The others are left on earth to go through the tribulation years, 7 years I believe. They have that much time to fully convert to Christianity before their souls belong to the devil. That is a HIGHLY watered down version.
If you want more about the end of the world, search "rapture" at Wikipedia or a search engine.

For the record, people have been saying "The end is coming" for about 200 years now..... Follow what you know to be true not what you are told. Yes we are drawing closer, that doesnt mean it will be in the next year. Besides there are many things that still have to come to pass. The anti-christ must rise to power, the nations of the world must be in conflict with each other, etc.
Plus a few other signs, mentioned in other religions. I find most of them have similar descriptions of the end of the world.. kinda creepy.
The main question that is unanswered in almost every religion, is what happens AFTER the end, even the christian bible says people will still be here afterward, does that mean that life will continue here? If so has the end of the world already happened? If not what proof do we have that it hasn't?

People have been predicting the end of the world for thousands of years and guess what they have all been wrong.
I won't be holding my breath for the end of the world and if it did happen oh well there is nothing I can do about it
[quote="Aredon"] | Chris24 wrote: |

You should never have to prove something wrong, nonexistant, or to have not happened. The person making the claim has to prove their claim right, existant, and that is has happened.
Most people don't realize this and fall into the traps of silly fundy's trying to promote their agenda.
End of world may be or may not be near. Who can say that but a self realised soul who can see beyond the illusions of this material nature. But what such an end does signify?
The spirit soul is neither created nor destroyed but only transmigrates from one living body to another. The creation or destruction of a material world doesnt affect its existance. Its original state of absolute knowledge, absolute bliss and eternity can be reattained by its renunciation from its material identity.
So even if this world end we continue to exist in material world but in different time, place, circumsances and form.
* This is my personal opinion based on what I have studied from Hindu and Buddhist scriptures. Interesed people can refer to 'Bhagvad Gita'.
I don't know.. if you are a hindu or not but... ofcourse I respect you.. not because you said from the scripts... but this is the same thing I came to say...
When most of the relegions talk about how to live after death.. and how can you go to heaven.. and how the world ends.. and things like that... Indian Relegions like... Sanathana Dharma, Budhissm, Jainism, etc.. explains... how should you live in this life.. and how should you behave to other people in this society... so that we can all live peacefully and happily..
when christains, jews, and muslims.. and relegions related to it.. talk about.. how the god forgive them.. no matter what they do.. and what to do to get the forgiveness of god.. which will encourage indirectly.. on people to do more crimes.. and he thinks.. no matter what he do.. god will forgive him... But we belive in .. getting punished for what ever we do.. you can't ask for forgveness.. you did something wrong.. ofcourse you will get punished.. and you will always remember not to repeat it...
* I belive in getting punished.. not just becuase thaz what our religion says... but.. I have experinced it through out my life..
HUMAN BEINGS MAKES MISTAKE.. BUT DON'T REPEAT THE SAME MISTAKES
What a bunch of B.S. The world isn't ending soon, and I'm tired of hearing people talk about it.
So what if the world ended tommorow? You should care more about living life to the fullest (interpert that however you want), and not when life will end. I don't know many people who can say that they're currently satisfied with their lives.
The Christian Bible foretells the end of the existing world and the beginning of a new one, so if you're a Christian you are told what to think. I am one, so I believe in that, but I also think no one knows for sure when it will happen. Jesus himself told his disciples that no one knows when it will happen, not even the angels, save the Father...
I do believe that the end of the world will happen one day. I don't think that because I've been told to think that though. I believe that through my own studies of the Bible and what I've seen happening around me. Even thought I think this, it's not somethings I worry about. I have no control over this, so I refuse to let that color my life. I have too much to enjoy here to worry about when the world will end.
even aspects of modern science suggest that the universe has a finite existance, in that it will have a begining and an end. Of course they also think it will happen again.... I disagree with that, but ya know. There are also some people that think the Myans(SP?) accuratly predicted the end of the world... since their calander ends in like.. 2010(i think)

personally, i don't think the world will end for a long time. if i'm correct, the bible says the world will end when there is no hope. I'm a believer of there always being hope. It's just an aspect of what you believe and what you don't believe.

That's right. The calendar of Mays (I don't know how it's in english Mayhs, Mays or Mayes...) ends in 2012 year. Look for "Prophecys of Orion" book.
It will be in 2012, 21 of December, 11:11. But it will not be end of the world, just a big didaster. To survive you must go to mountains in Africa to hide for one year so you must have a lot of money to prepare the food and other needed tings (5000 USD to 15000 USD). After that all the Earth will survive two more years and the end of the world will be in 2014, when the earth will get into black hole. The scientists today say that a black hole named "black cloud" is coming in our direction and Earth will fall into it in 2014
Flaws of that arguement:
#1 scientists have no real way of finding black holes unless they are already obsorbing matter, and if they are obsorbing matter then they are more likely to collapse and restablize as a fresh new nebula.
#2 black holes take the place of the stars that they were in the first place. The star would have been stationary, effected only by the universe's continueing expanse. which means they would be floating away.. not toward, furthermore there is no evidence that black holes move. (By stationary i mean it would follow the spiral motion of our galaxy, and the only way a black hole would hit here is if it was contained in the andromida (sp?) galaxy which is spiraling toward ours and will hit our galaxy in approx 10,000 years...)
#3 under the assumtion there is in fact a "black hole" coming toward earth, The attractive forces between masses would dictate it would be more likely to take mass off the sun or jupiter (the two largest masses).
the world will not come to the end as long as people treat each other with digninty and respect and as long as we keep our planet clean and respect the creations of God. God created the world for us, because God is mercyful he will not punish us as long as we keep his commandments. And if we do not keep them the final result will be against us. have you guys ever thought that what comes from God is good and always the outcome is positive.

completely agree with this. God loves us alot, no matter what religion or nationality you are, your God or whatever you believe in will always be there for you, and it's a matter of realizing that everyone is the same, and we shouldn't be so violent towards one another.

Soulfire, you're Catholic, right? Under criticisms in Wikipedia it says that most Roman Catholics reject the notion of the rapture because the belief first appeared in the 1800's and is not a part of the Apostolic tradition. Why do you believe it if most Catholics don't?
I think that the three terse scriptural references which some construe to describe the rapture are actually connected with the prediction in Revelations that in the End Times the ‘army of Israel will rise up as if from dead dry bones.’ Of course, I don’t think it is literally the Israeli army, but rather the vanguard of a new chosen group (as opposed to a chosen race, at least at first).
Similarly in Tibetan Buddhism, in the 1500 the Tibetan state oracle predicted that in roughly 500 years time (now) the reincarnating saints (bodhisattvas) will come together in the ‘western pure lands’ (USA) to form the next oversoul (army of Israel). An oversoul in Tibetan Buddhism is a group soul, a group-Buddha with the second coming of Christ as the central figure.
The Mayan calendar has a 104,000 year cycle that will roll over in 2011. The Earth’s precession (the axis spinning like a top in a complete circle) takes 26,000 years and this is four precession cycles. This 104,000 year cycle is called the cycle of humanity. Anatomically modern humans first appeared at the beginning of this cycle. Tribulations and catastrophes are associated with rapid evolution or the wipeout of more primitive forms when different evolutions of a species coexist, as they do in humans right now.
I don’t see the End Times as the end of the world, at least not for me! It is merely the end of a vast old cycle and the beginning of a new vast cycle of time. I also see it as the rain washing the dirt and decay away. My life has been so miserable for the last 15 years that now that I suddenly and miraculously have my health back, things would have to get worse than most people could possibly imagine for me to think that it was all that bad. (Rising up form dead dry bones?)
Mohammed also made a prediction that in 1400 year (now) that Christ would return. This is in the Hadiths, the words of Mohammed, not the Quran, which he did not write. Yes, that’s right, Mohammed taught about the return of Christ.
Guatama the Buddha made a prediction that in 2500 years (now, again) that the human race would go through a traumatic period of puberty. He said that with each world messiah in cycle after cycle, the world would awaken for a few hundred years, but that then fall back asleep. This time, however, he predicted that the human race would never fall asleep again.
So for me the End Time is something very welcome and life-affirming not something that makes me cringe in fear. Just a necessary bump in the road on the way to a much better world than the one we live in now. A sort of spring cleaning of the human genetic line, after which human beings will be much more thoughtful, intelligent and spiritual.
I once had a dream that 11/11/11 will be a very auspicious date.

I don't know the exact number, but it is in the billions of years, not thousands. It is 250,000,000 light years away, so even if it were travelling at the speed of light, which is impossibly fast for a nearby galaxy, it would take a quarter billion years.

Is the world going to end? Most certainly.
And, as far as astrological time is concerned, it's going to happen fairly soon. The thing is that astrological time is completely different than human time. Our children's children will be long dead when the sun goes nova (taking us right along with it), or whatever black hole obliterates our solar system.
I think what we could have to be afraid of (if, truly, you wish to be afraid, which I do not) is the destruction of our planet via the most deadliest thing on earth (next to nature): MAN. It is far more likely that we will get hit with an atomic weapon than we will be faced with the second coming of Christ. But who knows? No one. And so I say live and let live and hope no one drops a bomb on your head.
I don't believe that the world would end too soon. Because there will be the Millenium after Christ comes to get us home. The millenium is 1000 years and even after that there is still some time I think!
The rapture will be soon, some great prophets think that it could be in the next 10-20 years!
Well, we'll just wait patiently for God to come!

In responce to the galaxy moving at the speed of light.. we have no way of knowing if the laws of physics as we observe them here in our galaxy are in fact the same in other galaxies.. i hope you understand this. Thank you for correcting my date, i was not entirely sure.
For a long time it puzzled me to read all the different predictions about the end of the world and how they all fell about the same time. My prediction? August 16th 2010 at 10:13pm. Do not ask why, i will never tell a soul. Man can never truely know, as even man has fortold the that no man will ever know the exact date and time at which christ will return. But again that is asociating christ with the end of the world, perhaps, we do not know the date of his return, but we do know the day the world will end
we are getting closer to the end of the world, that's a fact, as i'm older now than when i started writting this. i don't know if we're near or far and i really don't think that we should involve in god's affairs. he is the only being who knows when it will happen and the only one who can make it happen. i don't think that the 6 june will change anything at all: in fact it is not a true 666, it is a 662006, and there were 6-6-6 or 6-6-66 or 6-6-666 or 6-6-1666 or 6-6-1966 and NOTHING HAPPENED. people who make a big deal out of that really annoy me. so the question: "could the end of the world be near?" i don't know. and i'll add: "should i care?" no... if the end of the world catches me or if i die the outcome would be the same. in fact, i believe that there are more probabilities of dying tomorrow for some unknown desease than the probablities of the end of the world catching me.
Damn, I'll tell once again,THE 666 CODE HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH END OF THE WORLD
I had a look at that site, and it is obviously a fake. It contradicts Scripture in at least one spot...
The end of world is realy near, it will come after 349284901894180 milion years, and now is right time to worried.

and most of those prophecies could be interupted in a way that everything happened within the first 80 years or so after Jesus's death.
The Bible (I believe in Revelations) has a list of things that have to happen before the Second Coming, and not all of it is the 'big' stuff that's going to happen on a global scale like the New World Order or the anti-christ, etc.
We 'ain't' nowhere near all this stuff being completed. According to the Bible, even after all those things in Revelations come to pass:
Before Jesus comes back, believers will be 'taken up' and there will be 7 years of tribulation, then those who were left behind and repented during tribulation will be 'taken up'. Then, satan will rule the earth for 1,000 years. THEN, Jesus will come back and the final war (Armageddon) will happen and satan will be defeated and cast into hell for good, after finally having to bow and acknowledge Jesus.
We 'ain't' going nowhere for awhile.
(If I made any mistakes in the timeline, somebody correct me. Thx.)

Well, in my opinion you can rule out the 3rd plague of the Apocalypse. A shooting star called wormwood plunges into the ground and many people die from the “bitter” waters (wormwood is extremely bitter). The world Chernobyl in Ukrainian means wormwood and the satellite photos of the reactors explosion looked just like a commit with its head plunged into the ground. Since the Chernobyl accident huge numbers of people have gotten thyroid cancer from the radioactivity in the water supply and agricultural products that use that supply, especially among children.
ill give my views...
according to my religion Islam.... the end will come after the second visit of Jesus to this world... 40 years after his arrival, the end will come....
and yess much of the hints of the Judgement day approaching are happening but i still think the end is not very soon from now......
well you see the main thing is..... everyone who dies.... he has reached his end.... like wen you sleep in the night.... you wake up the next mornig and it seems like you just slept..... the same way wen a person dies..... and wen he will be brought to life once again....it will be like no time for him.........
get the idea??
First, the 666 end of the world stuff is extremely hard to pin to a specific date. If we take the start time/date as when Jesus was born, that is only very vaguely known, for a start. And where does it say that is when the clock started ticking? (my knowledge of religious etc. writings is quite weak...). Don't forget that the calendar has been changed several times too.
If the world is going to end for human kind, I think it is far more likely to be from the billions of small stupid things that people do every day without thinking about what they are doing. From mindless selfish consumption and greed to careless throwing away of plastics and chemicals and drugs, stupid and incorrect use of antibiotics, over-use of fertilisers and weedkillers, and so on. We are slowly killing the planet's eco-systems. Add to that the industrial polution, possible global warming, etc... Did you realise that:
1 in 8 species of bird is endangered
1 in 4 species of mammal is endangered
1 in 3 species of amphibian is endangered
How long can we go on abusing the world like this?
I believe that the Day of the Lord (or Judgement Day) is near. Probably some time within a few centuries. And since we are worsening our planet's condition every day, I believe that the Rapture will occur sooner rather than later.
As far as I know (and please correct me if I'm wrong), all of the pre-Rapture prophecies in the Bible have been fulfilled, so now only the Rapture and the seven-year tribulation have to come before the Day of the Lord. After that, there is the thousand-year reign of Christ on Earth.
First of all, I'm not even a Christian so the Bible means nothing to me.
Now when you talk about decrypting the Bible, you mean how they find certain letters in certain parts that make up the words that you are looking for. You can do the exact same thing with the book Moby Dick. Another thing is that every single generation always thought that they were going to be the last ones. Have you seen the world end yet? It was supposed to end when it turned the year 2000, but look, it's 2007 and we are all still here debating about the end of the world. Screw the end of the world, when it ends it will be so quick that no one is going to even notice it. So why does everyone always worry about it so much? I really can't understand.

The bible is written in metaphors, and you must decrypt these metaphors to find the true message of any passage.
I don't believe that, excuse me the end is near etc "crap"...
It definately could be - but we don't know when, so be ready now or never.
The end of the world isnt coming anytime soon, we have to wait for the sun to become a super red giant in 7 billion years for that. However, im pretty sure the end of society as we know it is coming in the not to distant future. and you dont need any fairy tale books to tell you that. Increasing population density will increase the rates of disease transmission and increase the replicating reservoir sizes for these diseases, eventually and inevitably resulting in some sort of super bug which will wipe out 80% of the population reducing the world back into the dark ages.

Every year, every century and especially now in the new millennium, some group, some person always predicts the end of the world in X amount of years, days, or months.
Its all poppy-******.
I believe the world with die out naturally by age. Humans are a very adaptive species and I believe we'll prevail and make ourselves survive most anything that will come ourway.
It's Cominbg soon
Although I doubt It will be anything flashy like angel of death coming from the sky or anything...I'm still hopefull
But This Is how I think It will end:
Minutes To Midnight
With US out of the Nuclear Weapons ban threaty and all that.

Yes, true some of it has happened. Natural disasters and what not, but these things are not complete without their counterparts in the prophesy you speak of.
It is still missing:
- Christians in great persecution - I'm sorry, but a little critisism hardly makes for persecution and being killed for being one. So this part of that prophesy has not come true and therefore it has not happened so the prophesy is null and void untill: A. America and other christian-populated nations fall (ironicaly enough fufilling their own prophesy) or B. The world is nuked and almost everyone dies but a select few people, and those remaining are christian and persecuted.
Look at it this way.. it will be a while based on the prophesy(s), becuase most of them have not happened in their full.
If anything you should be worried about the earth's magnetic field shifting somewhere around 2012 when there will be holes in the magnetic field letting solar radiation in for around 100 years. "Yo, I'm cancer"
Sometimes reading about this stuff in revelations really scares me.......
