Explain the reasoning behind the site, please

I'm interested to find out a little more about how and why this site and service work the way they do. I'd also be interested to hear about who runs it, why they started it, and what their goals are for the site. I haven't found this information anywhere, although please let me know if I missed it.

The site that referred me over here said something about FriHost working on ad revenue -- that the posting and community requirements were all about having people watch the ads that appear when browsing the site. But then I wonder why there would be concern over people spamming or posting news articles without quotes, and things like that. Don't get me wrong, I understand why you'd want to curtail those things if you intended to build a real community site, but if all one cared about was add click-throughs or viewings, I don't see how it would matter.

Anyway, I look forward to finding out more about FriHost.

I understand your reasoning, but how many people would actually stick around if nothing was enforced on this forum and it became entirely spam ridden? Would you? I know I wouldn't if it was impossible to carry on intelligent conversations. This would eventually lead to Frihost's demise. Fortunately we have an excellent mod team here to prevent this from happening.

No, I certainly wouldn't want to be in a community of people spamming boards just to get free hosting. If you read my posts, you'll see as much. And that wouldn't be much of a 'community,' would it?

I was just trying to figure out what the goal of the site's creator(s) was -- what the larger point of FriHost is meant to be. That thread is informative; I'm making my way through it now -- thanks for the info.
