Zimbabwe

Seeing that we are discussing world news ...

Zimbabwe and the doings of the black Hitler named Robert Mugabe is back in the news again. I have the unfortunate experience of meeting refugees from Zimbabwe virtually on a daily basis as they cross the border into South Africa.

Mr.Mugabe has recently started on what he (and his goverment) has called a "city cleanup". In that cleanup thousands of people are left homeless as their houses are being destroyed by the military.

It is winter here now in the southern hemisphere and the temprature falls below freezing on many nights. So as you can imagine - being stuck out in the cold with no house - will lead to problems.

There is no reason for this "cleanup". I have visited Zimbabwe many times and "huts" or "shacks" is part of Zimbabwe and has been for as long as I can remember.

I have seen on the news that the EU and USA has objected to this madmans actions. But I am afraid, thats where it will end and this madman will just continue to rule.

The humanitarian organisations are now pouring into Zimbabwe - trying to distribute food and warm clothing but the sad thing is that most of this aid wil land in the hands of the wrong people and just get sold to the poor - who really need it.

Cheers,
Nick.

It's not just Zimbabwe. Other third world countries are practically exactly the same, with corrupt government officials and debts in the billions (Most of the have been cancelled though, if you watch the news ou should know that). It was practically the same in Iraq before the 'Coalition of the willling' stepped in. However, President bush didn't fix the country, he made the situation worse. We just hope that one day the tyranny will end and democracy steps in.
