So when are we gonna see a big auto manufacturer build a real hybrid sports car? You can create TONS of torque with electric motors, and provide nearly as much power as anyone could want for short time spans. Under aggressive track driving (ie road racing, autocrossing, whatever) regenerative braking will bring lots of that power right back. And when all you need is a few wires to distribute power, all-wheel-drive is super simple, and you could do tons of cool stuff with traction/stability/launch control systems. The technology is all right in front of us.... so why don't I have a car in the garage that could do the 1/4 mile in 11 seconds, turn 0.9+ g's on the skidpad, and still get 50 mpgs in the city???
