Pandora

I just heard about this site and checked ot out today. It's called Pandora and is powered by the Music Genome Project. This is how it works.

The first time you go to http://www.pandora.com/ a flash box appears and asks you what artist or song you like. It then creates a "streaming radio station" with simular music. THe more artists and songs you add the more of a mix you get. If they play a song you don't like you tell them that you don't like it and they stop playing it.

I've only been playing around with this for just a litle bit now and already I've heard some great music suited to my taste (so far a mix of traditional Celtic, accoustical folk guitar and Celtic Punk). I tried to stump them by concintrating in celtic music with some pretty obscure song titles and I haven't stumpped them beyond asking if what I was looking for was a song or artist. Have more then one musical taste that may not quite go together. You can have up to a hundred radio stations. To further confuse the issues I started another radio station based innitially on the Japanese punk band The Pillows. They not only found The Pillows (some anime fans might recognize them from FLCL) but offered up a few other musical choices that sounded very simular in english however my eforts to add High and Mighty Color (the group that does the opening song Ichirin no Hana at the beginning of Bleach) didn't work out. I guess I finally did stump them.

There is a free account that is add driven, or payed subcriptions with out adds. Also want to share your steams with your friends you can e-mail them a link or even post your links on your blog or website. There is also a javascript that makes all your your Stations available on your web pages.

You just might want to give Pandora a try.
