Highest Vehicle Milage???

watersoul
As a not very well off student at uni in the UK, I'm driving a lovely old battered 1994 Renault Clio. She's a 1.9Ltr Diesel beast and has got me to so many festivals and parties and camping trips that I don't know if I'd ever want to part with her.

Anyway, she's done 195,000 miles now, and 74,000 of them have been with me over the last 14 months so I'm wondering what other distance feats anyone else has done with their vehicles - ever taken the meter 'around the clock' to zero?

got a chevy truck with over 245000 miles on it, not a single bit of rust and drives like new Very Happy

My mom's suburban (I learned to drive in it) has 257k mi, last time I checked. It has some problems with the electrical system, but still runs reliably and powerfully.
(and they try to tell me cars are just as reliable as trucks...)

There are Toyta Hilux's in South Africa (I know South Africans) with well over a million miles on them .

Where I did work experience the truck had 1,667,152 miles on the clock.

But the world record breaker is a Volvo with over 2 million miles on the clock

A million miles???!!
I dont think my little Clio will last that long but then, she has to travel over 100 miles per day around rubbish, winding country lanes using gear after gear up and down the hills, I wonder if those long straight freeways I see on US films are easier on your cars, lets face it, a 500 mile straight line journey has 2 be kinder to the machinery etc!
...dont actually think some of the US vehicles would fit on the roads I have 2 use Very Happy

The US cars have NICE engines. But MY GOD DO AMERICANS DRIVE SLOW!! In the states they make such a big deal on speeding! on worlds wildest polic chases "Speeds of up to EIGHTY MILES AN HOUR!!". Yeah, so? In Britain everybody does 80/90mph on the 70mph motorways if they can, people in England have been found doing 172mph on bikes on the roads.

This one guy was clocked doing 128.5 and he was pulled over, and when they told him he laughed and said, Umm I think you'll find my bike is slightly better than that, I was doing 172. Bit of a smart arse, but he only got a 2 month ban and £60 fine.

But one story that is absolutley hilarious that I saw on Police Camera Action! was that a Peugoet 205 sped up a bridge at high speed, saw a speed camera and just turned sharply to avoid it, and he smashed into a ditch and down into an embankment. It showed him a couple of hours later looking really annoyed as the farmer dragged his demolished car out of the undergrowth. He saved himself £60 but cost himself a few hundred in body shop bills! Wouldn't of just been the icing on the cake if he had of been charged the speeding fine huh!

What a lucky guy. I was caught doing 91mph in a 60mph zone on a nice day and on a clear road that I could see for miles on and I got a 6month ban and a £400 fine.

Poor you amigo, I got £250 fine and 6 points on my license for 103 mph on a 70 mph dual carriageway, oh and the lawyer cost me £550 but hey I'm still driving and its slowed me down loads - I watch my speed big time now!

(UK rules give you a maximum of 12 points and then your banned from driving for however long the magistrate/judge decides, points remain for 3 years after any offence)

I remember seeing a news article on TV about a guy who had a pickup truck (I can't remember the exact model, but it was something of a fairly small truck like a F150 or Silverado) that had over 1 million kilometres on it. His odometre turned over back to 0000's.

He used the pickup truck to deliver things for his business, and he racked up so many miles that he changed the oil in the truck twice a month. A car delearship bought it off him and it's on the roof of their dealership, for advertisement reasons.

I hope my car lasts to a million...lol, that would last me approx. 40 years.

Argh stop whinging about speed, here in Australia you get fined $106 (AUD) for 6 km/h over the speed limit which is a joke.

You also get a 3 month ban if you go more than 30 km/h over the speed limit. Thats ~19 mph!
Thatguy
My girlfriend had a 1966 Corvair that has over 300, 000 miles on it. The odometer has rolled over to zeros three times.
uncle
We had a Honda Accord that had over 200,000 but that sounds young compared to some of the above.
Pyro Man
Yeah this truck that was at work experience, the keys were actually jammed in the ignition lol

Our 1992 Dodge Shadow has over 315,000 miles on it. Still runs great, almost everything is new. Everything that isn't is guaranteed for life (my dad keeps the receipts). Too bad my brother rear-ended it into a Mercedes. It still runs perfect, but my dad says it would be a waste of money to fix the body, so he'll probably get rid of it soon.

I'm so sad, I wanted that car to be passed down to me. Crying or Very sad

Dang, my 95 Mustange GT Convertible only has about 176,000
I'll let you know if i hit 200,000. I have had it for 11 years and it's relitively ok . I noticed it seems to have a very slow oil leak somewhere, I'm gonna have to jack it up and clean it up to see where it's coming from. I have a feeling i's from one of the drain plugs.

My friend bought a BMW 3 Series for £250 and it had 225000 miles on the clock. Most cars can last just dont rag the balls out of them and make sure to complete services regularly inc an oil change. I own a Nissan which has breezed up to 125000 miles. Think since new, its had 2 alternators and iv just changed the radiator. I love Nissans, engines on them are the dogs b0ll0cks!!

I hope to keep the car for as long as possible. I got a company car I use to commute So Using mine as a weekend driver is cool.
