A thought on "DBS".....

goodforum
Just had my third DBS after the last one being about a month ago. I'm convinced that the time interval between usage of car has nothing to do with the battery going dead. I had been away for 2 weeks and car started up fine but today after only 3 days of not using the car, battery was dead.

One important item is that the last time I was in the car I opened the passenger door to get to the glove box. I'm wondering if this could have anything to do with triggering the battery discharge.

By the way, car was shut down correctly, car in reverse, etc. I also ordered my Priority Start today, something I should have done a while ago.

1st: Check for a bad battery (many auto parts stores will test your battery for free).

2nd: Check for lights and electronics that stay on.
The glove box light is suspicious. (On my jeep, the brakelight switch [located just under the brake pedal] was malfunctioning and stayed on. This caused several DBS's for me.)
3rd: Check to see if anything might be shorting the circut.

4th: Check your alternator.
Even if it is not the cause of the problem, repeatedly recharging the battery can cause it to malfunction.
