Quantum computers work best turned off...

redace
Recently I have read about experiment with some system of mirrors realizing the computer program. The interesting conclusion of this experiment was that quantum computers can give answers without even running the program. Consequently the quantum computers should work with less errors. Do you know anything else about it? ....It΄s not a joke...the quantum world can be strange!

Does that have something to do with them computing in another universe? Really, if we finaly come to understand quantum mechanics, there will be much more to gain than mere computing power.

it sounds possible, and the alternate universe theory seems to also play into it. That sounds like the only possible explanation.

I can't wait for quantum to kick off. It will turn everything on it's head!!

Quantum computing will make it easy to solve a lot of problems that today are impossible. But I am not sure that it will be that world changing, unless you are a travelling salesman.

I fact I think the net effect will be bad. For example, it will make currently very strong methods of encryption suddenly breakable. For example, the business (esp. financial) world is relying more and more heavily on public key encryption and one-way hashes.

I think quantum computing is more of a danger to our future than other furfies like genetic engineering and nano-machines.

In quantum mechanics, the cause and effect we observe in the mechanical level doesn't take place. In the quantum mechanical level, some event could happen before the thing that causes it. This can be mathematically proven (actually, this proof was showed many, many years ago in scientific magazines and gave rise to a new set of theorized particles, which general name I don't recall).
What is most remarkable is that it is possible for the human brain to work on the quantum mechanical level and, therefore, master the laws of nature. The techniques to accomplish that are a part of the so called "technology of consciousness."

... this sounds a little off to me any one concur.

Sounds interesting.......I don't have time to check out...

"technology of consciousness",
you mean like using a human brain as a CPU. Boy, that would be fast!
But would the person still be alive(using the brain just for the duration of computing), or would they make a "brain in a jar" to use that another person uses???

That's actually true, but keep in mind that TM is not the only technique that falls into this cathegory. I would not recommend any other just because I don't know them enough. Also, some scientists (and I don't think they practice TM) are helping us to understand how consciousness work (please see the PEAR - or something like that - project at Princeton University and www.grandpierre.hu).
Best regards.

It's much more than that! There are many accounts, specially in India, on the so called supernormal powers that a man can acquire by the correct practice of the technology of consciousness.
Best wishes.
