Question for any guitar players out there.

This is a n00b question, sorry.

You know how in tablature there are strings that are X-ed out? I'm assuming they are muted. How do you mute them? Or do you just not strum them with the right hand? Seems really awkward, so I'm wondering if I'm making a wrong assumption somewhere.

Also, does anybody know a good site with *real* tablature for popular songs, not this junk with just the lyrics and the chords above them? I mean tabs with the rythm shown and maybe even the fingering for the specific chords used in that song.

As for your main question, I myself am not sure, but with bass, I always assumed it meant you mute the strings by resting your fretting hand on the fingers so that they don't ring/make a tone while plucking it.

yeah, i to have made that assumption, and i also play bass, but its going ot be getting alot harder to find tabs these days as lots of the good sites are being shut down beause of copyright laws Sad
