I've installed SUSE 10 on a dell inspiron notebook that I had lying around. But it overheats like crazy. I can't even build and install apache or mysql on it because half way throught the configure it gives me an error messege saying that its "reached critical heat", beeps 3 times, and then turns off. I'm not sure what is going on with it. I know that the hardware is fine, because I had windows xp running fine on it before I decided to switch to linux. can anyone help me out here?
SUSE 10 on my Dell Laptop overheats
Does any other linux distribution work fine ? I don't know how SUSE works.
My reflex would be to tell that you have a fan problem, just try to put your laptop on 4 things at the corners, so the air can move under it. I tried it once, and the temperature got down.
But also check you have ACPI installed.

You have already posted this topic about the same problem. Do not double-post about the same issue. If people couldn't help before, what makes you think a new topic would get you new answers?
