Ok, well heres the thing. I know i'm terrible and am running on a 500 mhz cpu. I've checked out a few linux distros and havn't really decided yet which one I truly want to stay with. I mean the main problem is eating up my cpu and my 256 mb ram. I know the ram shouldn't be much of a problem but the cpu is. So i was wondering for all of you linux people. What Distro and what version of it do you think is the fastest and why?
Fastest Linux
The best will be Gentoo (http://www.gentoo.org/) but it's may be too hard for new user, and teh instlation time (from soures) will be very long.
Also you can use Archlinux (http://www.archlinux.org/) it's i686 procesor optimized distribution. It not as fast as Gentoo but it's one of the fastest distributions.
