I just read an article at Inc. Magazine about the possibilities of companies switching to pay per action advertising. This means that unless someone buys something or signs up for a newsletter, or some other action, you don't get paid. You would get more money per action as they are more valuable, but not nearly that many.
I don't like this unless I'm a company buying ad space. For one thing, the people displaying your ads only get paid a commission. Since many times, the ad is made by someone else, you can't control the content or its marketability. The person putting the ad up must sacrifice space for the ad which costs (bandwidth, loss of space for your content, etc.). You only get reimbursed if someone decides to buy through your site.
What do you all think?
