The French "CPE" !!!

dalma101
Hello, I'm french and you've propably heard about the new law that was put in place 2 months ago, the 'CPE', approximatly, 'Contract for the first job'.

This law enables any boss to engage young worker of less than 25 for 2 years and to fire him when he wants without any motive. This law was put in place, 'according to the french prime minister', to drop down unemployment of young boys and girls.

This law was so precarious that young and less young people have been demonstrating against it for 2 months in order that the prime minister remove this SILLY laws. But Mr DE VILLEPIN is so obtuse and doesn't want to remove it, he only accepts dialogues. But 68% of French people want him to remove this law and resign. What do you think of that ?

If you have heard of it, if you have any question, or if you only want to give your opinion, send a message...

He should indeed drop the law and eventually he won't have an other chance

the violence may stop on the other hand, don't know what some people try to achieve...

Why shouldn't a company be able to fire its employees?

It seems that you french do not want to earn the right to have a job. If a company finds an employee useful, skillful, competitive why would this boss fire him?? What I know and perhaps you can tell me if I am wrong is that french want something like a lifetime job, that the state must provide it and putting little or no effort to get the right to remain in it.
The proposed law makes sense since almost every country works that way. Not as a law but as a non-written law. For instance in my country there is a general labour law that aplies to everybody in age of working. You can be fired six months or five years and what you have to do is find another job. simple. Sometimes there are unjustified events but that is another story. So I do not understand what is the big deal?

The law is not silly, it is the protests that are silly. Unless employers have some flexibility in hiring and firing, young French people will continue to suffer extremely high rates of unemployment, which does no-one any good.

should do more research first...

They are protesting against the fact that bosses will be able to fire young people without any reason!

I know that, and I stand by what I said.
