well it depends how you want to buy.

if you want to buy with paypal or credit card then the best place to buy are


www.namesbeyond.com ( free .info with .com )
www.namecheap.com ( free domain name privacy )
http://smallbusiness.yahoo.com/domains

if you want to buy domain names in india and pay via ban deposit, check or dd then the best place to buy are

www.nettigritty.com
www.webcomindia.net
www.goodluckdomain.in

Well Sify offers only .in domain names like .in, co.in, net.in, org.in, gen.in, ind.in and firm.in.

They do not offer other .com, .net etc.

well i will certainly recommend you to buy from the above links i posted. Well sify is a huge organisation and domain registration is not their primary business. i will not recommend anyone to buy domains from large organizations like sify, indiatimes and rediff. their customer support is quite sloppy and management is also not that good. If you want to buy a .in, www.goodluckdomain.in is the best place to buy .in. they give .info free with a .in.

services of http://www.indiainternets.com , www.vindia.net www.brainpulse.com and www.hostindia.net are also very good.

The fact that it was cheap attracted me to sify.

I really dont mind spending 50 rs extra if I get better service.
