I had hp for a while and love there support but how are the other coumpanys like Canon ? My friend said they print better what do all of you guys think ?

Not sure. I have a laser HP and it works great.
No specific brand of printer within a normal price range will "print better" than the others. If you want a good printer, just buy a photo printer from a major brand to ensure you get support.
I know Canon makes good photo printers, but for general use, they probably would not be the best printer to use. I would go with a brand that specializes in printers, not cameras for a printer...

The above poster is mostly right, however Canon's inks do not last as long as those from Epson. If you want your prints to last 100 years, then go with an Epson R320 or R1800 at minimum. But if you don't, then any photo printer will suit you just fine.
