Due to release delays of Microsoft's Windows Vista operating system, the company will utilize developers from its Xbox division to get the OS back on track. From the article: "Up to 60% of the code in the new consumer version of Microsoft new Vista operating system is set to be rewritten as the Company 'scrambles' to fix internal problems a Microsoft insider has confirmed to SHN. In an effort to meet a deadline of the 2007 CES show in Las Vegas Microsoft has pulled programmers from the highly successful Xbox team to help resolve many problems associated with entertainment and media center functionality inside the OS."

This says a lot about Microsoft's competence to lead an industry. Anyone arguing that it's to make it more secure with a 60% rewrite is fooling themselves. This is a total REDO!

True or hoax? The sad thing is that it is believable...
Technically speaking, they almost always rewrite at least 10-15 % of their codes - if we consider a 80 MB sevice pack a rewrite.
