W3c certification vs everything else

Kris1972
Hello all,
I am currently preparing for a SCJP exam and have become interested in XHTMl and web design and publishing. I was wondering if there are any IT managers on the site and if so what value would you put on a W3C certification as a HTML developer vs something like a Java Developer certification when it comes to hiring a new employee who has little comercial expierence?

In spite of the fact that I'm certantly no IT manager, nor do I have any idea what an SCJP Exam is I'll offer this:

No matter how many W3C tests you pass (I'm assuming that you're talking about some sort of written test, and not W3C code validation), if your design skills are no good, you won't get hired.

What I'm trying to say is that tests and certifications are just great - but if can't design worth crap, they mean nothing.

(Yeah, I pretty much suck at expressing my thoughts through writing... Sad )

I'm not an IT manager, but if I was one, I'd give more importance on your real skills, and maybe not even consider such certification.
There are loads of really skilled developers that don't have any certification, and who are better than most of certified developers.
