i need a free partition making software. im downloading all these demos that just like "evaluate" your drives or some crap. i just wanna make a partition in my external so i can put on linux.

check out qtparted or parted, works under linux only. If you don't already have it, you may want to try linux boot disks, like Trinity Rescue Kit. Check Distrowatch.com as well (go to link for isotorrents). hope this all helps
Or try a Linux Live CD. I suggest Knoppix. This way you can try Linux without actually installing it, and when you decide, QTParted is included...
