Hi everyone,
I've just written a full tutorial detailing how to install Apache, PHP and MySQL. Everything was done on a fresh Windows XP installation. I tried to make it very simple to follow, so I put heaps of screenshots, and tried to explain every step on the way (so you learn what you're doing).

Please tell me what you think!

Excellent Tutorial buddy. Thanks and way to go.
I just downloaded this and it installed apache, mysql and php 5 on my computer in about two minutes and I was ready to go straight away. You are also able to get XAMP, LAMP and some other one. The WAMP one if for windows.
Nice! So you use this to turn your computer into a server but if you upload ur site to your own server then can you still download if your computer is switched off? if yes how is that possible.
Sorry I'm a newb if it comes to stuff like this.

I think what he mean here is setting up the server in your computer as a TEST server. It's god to use this way to update and develop website with PHP based coz you dont need to upload and test from your main server. wich might cost you more time and migth caused some errors. in a word, it is not changing your computer to be a live server to host your files for other people to go in, but mainly is for testing. ^^
That is good information. However, one make use of XAMPP from ApacheFriends and install PHP, MySQL and other related stuff for your server environment automatically. I run XAMPP on a WinXP. You can get XAMPP for Linux and Mac too.
for best results use XAMPP., its the ultimate web serving softwares, it combines all apache and stuff!
Interesting tutorial . Thanks
wow, finally found it thanks for sharing it.
i'll try it in near future after learned more skill by develop my few site first.
By the way, thanks again
Please remember that this tutorial is a bit old, and there's newer versions available (Apache 2.2, MySQL 5, PHP 5). The steps are basically the same, though.
thanks ... i really had no idea about this stff
