When Toyota redesigned the current Camry midsize sedan for the 2002 model year, the TV commercials took an oooooh, aaaaaah, styling-that-moves-you approach. After a while they stopped that. It turned out U.S. consumers weren't particularly moved by the styling. It was different, yes, but still conservative — some would say bland, boring.
This didn't stop the Camry from being the best-selling car in the country for the intervening years. But there's tough competition in the field, and it's now clear that bold styling sells. Bland may now be riskier than taking a chance on a strong design statement. Finally, Toyota has heard the call.
The 2007 models hit dealerships in March 2006 equipped with upgraded drivetrains and other refinements. Roughly three months later, hybrid versions built right here in the U.S. hit the streets. The trim levels, in ascending value, are CE, LE, the sporty SE and the premium XLE.

Finally a hybrid car that doesnt look like it is out of a cheezy science fiction movie!
I love Toyota cars, and I have been waiting for them to come out with a hybrid. It looks nice. If I had the money, I would look into this car .. Unfortunately I dont have the money, though!
The only good cars are American cars.
I'll take a rusted out pickup truck over a four-banger any day.
It's a great car and I'm looking forward to it. It'll take on the Honda Accord (not the best mileage). Toyota currently has 3 hybrids (Camry, Prius, and Highlander) though I think they should make something more fuel efficient. (Honda Insight is beating 'em) A Corolla Hybrid would be nice.
That is one pretty looking car. Its probley going to be expencive. I can't wait untill my parents stop complaing about gas prices. Becuase they are really high.

Yeah... and you'll burn 20 liters to run 100 kms !! My four banger is 18 years old and only burns half !!
And you problably can't drive a shift !
Great!!!! The hybrid models are the future in the automotive industry, and the new Camry looks very nice, the new design leave the boring to Toyota!
Facts :
The average gas/petrol motor drinks 8 to 10 liters per 100 kms.
The average diesel engine drinks 4 to 7 liters per 100 kms.
The average hybrid car still drinks 4 to 6 liters per 100 kms.
Diesel is cheaper than gas.
Diesel cars are cheaper than hybrids.
Hybrids are HEAVY : you need more energy to make it go.
Conclusion, hybrid cars with diesel engines would rock, but i'll buy a diesel car over a hybrid anyday !

Average as based on what size engine? Here where I am, Diesel is NOT cheaper than gas. Hybrid 4 cylinders here tend to get close to 50 MPG, whereas the best diesel 4 cylinder I've seen can only get 30 MPG.
In europe right now, a liter of gas is about 1.4 €, while a liter of diesel is about 1.1 (at max)€.
I don't know what kind of diesel cars you're refering to, but if you take a new diesel car (2 liter 4 cylinder), like a VW Golf TDI, you can get a 4-5 liter of diesel per 100 kms
online conversion :
4.5 liters/100 km = 52.2699074 miles/gallon(US)
Plus you're hybrid will cost 10-20 % more won't it ?
I really don't know where you got your 30MPG figure ! A truck ?
Your perspective on diesel cars is often determined by what part of the world you are in. In North America they are frowned upon as bad for the environment based on emissions, but in Europe they are praised as being good for the environment based on actual amount of fuel used. As per the figures cited above. Who to believe?

Good ol' American cars are a waste of fuel and metal. Most SUV's get worse milage than an original modelT Ford. Almost all cars in America are big, bulky and polute more than my 1.5 litre Mazda 323F. Give me an efficient four-banger any day over a wasteful peice of metal.
And I agree with Garg, | Quote: |

Buying a hybrid to save money on gas is actually kind of stupid at this point in it's technology. A hybrid car costs at least a few thousand more then the standard edition of that car, and it takes at least 5 years, if not longer, before the savings on gas add up to the extra cost of the hybrid edition. And all that does is make you break even. Until the price of hybrid comes down, it's only really an option for people with no money problems who are bbuying it strickly to save the environment, and not to save on gas.
Food for thought :
Audi is building a Diesel engine for their Le mans series car. They want to win the Le mans 24h with this car.
Just to show that Diesel is pointed out by constructors as efficient (more than gas anyway) and can give a high performance.
