It isn't offensive, but it isn't true either.

Science changes much much more than religion. It's based on scepticism of current ideas, and new theories are constantly supplanting old ones. Anyone who thinks that a scientific theory is never going to change is not thinking scientifically (or historically). Whereas religion is generally based on texts that were written thousands of years ago, and changes extremely slowly.

On the other hand, it's easy to argue that religion changes the times just as much as science, if not more. Our current "times" in America, Europe, and the middle East are heavily influenced by religion, whether we like it or not.

Unfortunatly I have to agree, Religion rarely changes unless forced to do so. Science is in a constant state of change, and not because it has to, but because scientists are always looking for a way to make life better for all. Religion also tries to make life better, but it seems that many of the ways of Religion have become stale to alot of people and they tend to shy away from it [Religion] for just that reason. Please note that I am not pointing the finger at any particular Religion or Sect, but simply speaking in general terms.

I am not trying to say that either way is better than the other, but as a Christian I have to admit that if some Religions (including my own) would at least try to come to terms with the modern world they [i]may]/i] not lose as many members.

Hi Max,

personally i think that science and religion have the same objective behind them. sometimes i feel that science and religion are both trying to solve questions!! isin't it?? when we have a question we tend to go either the science way or the religious way!! for exampple when we are in deep deep trouble say for instance medical problems...you would see some people turn to medicine and some people becoming deeply religious!! i hope you have heard of "faith medicine" a combination of medicine and religion.

isnt it funny how people become religious when they are growing old!! is it because the mystery of death is still not solved!! when we are young who cares about religion (exceptions are always there) !!

guess there are two ways to appraoch a mysters/question - religion or science!!

It does seem that people are using Religion and Science to find the answers that make them feel more comfortable with the world around them. What bothers me is the fact that no matter how far advanced either faction becomes there still is no tolerance for the other. People of Religion blast the Scientists as being heretical, and people of Science blast the Religious as being ignorant of the facts. Mind you, I'm saying either way is right or wrong. It just seems (to me anyway) that the more intelligent our society becomes, both through Science and Religion, the less tolerent we become.

I see no reason why both of the factions can't coexist without any troubles or name calling. We have far to many larger problems we should be dealing with instead of wasting our time on petty differences.

This is just my opinion, but I'd really like to hear your views.

Peace Smile
