Many sites use hitfarm as a quick profit of at least $500. Everyone hates hitfarm sites(often infested with some kind of adware) except the owner.
Examples of hitfarm hosted sites:
http://be.com/
http://ec.quickbasic.com/
However, there is a catch. The domain you choose to host must be capable of around 5000 unique visitors per day. This is no problem for be.com or ec.quickbasic.com because they were popular sites. I hope that this is of some use to you...
I H8TE Hitfarm type sites
I think there should be some law against them
I have hit so many hitfarms sites by accident. I go looking for php script so i find a site, click on it and it links me to another hitfarm! They are very annoying
Well, I agree they suck, but they very profitible. I'd do it if I had such a domain...
I will definately check those ones you mentioned out, thanks for the information.
There shouldn't be spyware or mal-ware on websites.. but i don't understand why people still visits those infected sites.. probably wanted to get their computer destroyed?
don't get how they make money
i dont know wat hitfarm sites are......
but by the mention of spyware i get an idea of "illegal"...
itarlo... youu ask how they make money.... well i have an idea about spywares... you see dataminer type syware are very basic.. they take all the information about the sites you visit and stuff frm ur computer and upload it to the net.. they use this info to send pop-ups to ur computer.. somtimes they even install things on ur computer...toolbars in browser are very normal nowadays.....
well they make money by sellin this info to other people who buy it and send other stuff to ur pc.. thus they get rich themselves but destryo ppl's computer.......
Actually, only some hitfarms install spyware onto your computer. Those are the individually run ones that are not hosted by hitfarm.com, which is the most common host for a hitfarm site.
Hitfarms make money and give money in this way - You buy the domain they want, if it has over 5000 hits per month(this is if you're going with hitfarm.com's hosting) they will accept your domain and host it. Advertisers in turn, buy ads from hitfarm and are put on the site. You get a fraction of the money the advertisers pay for the amount of hits your site recieves.
Why do people visit these sites? It's usually by a complete accident when clicking on something that seems to have what they want in a search engine or a misspelling when typing the URL.
Wikipedia has an article about hitfarms: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hitfarm
Still, even so, you could have a website on the side. You know, to help your main one along with financial aid.
