Can we all agree in something....

Che
I have many times heard and even repeated it myself that there is an ultimate power, a God, a source of energy, a creator, a whatever you want to call it.
Yet, here then, in my last example is where the dilemma arrives.
In my personal belief, it seems like humankind adores the same "source" (for lack of a better word) but simply experiences it in different ways and react to it through different thoughts and actions. Here then comes the separation of religions, when experience and reactions and influenced by cultures or beliefs.
But at the end of the road, we all come to adore some source of happyness, which we simply call different ways. I'd like to invite you to not look down upon that who adores something you are not, because that individual might as well be loving the same thing you do.

Ofcourse, I guess this is likely to apply only for those who believe in "something"...

Nicely put Che. It seems that we all do believe in something, but we can't seem to agree on what that something may be. For one person it could be God, another it may be Science, and another may be driven solely by profit. All we seem to be able to agree on with any certainty is to disagree. The rifts caused between differant religious, ethnic, and/or cultural groups are an indication (to me anyway) of exactly how far we each will go to be a part of something greater than ourselves. We all seek acceptence of some kind, even those who will scream that they are different and don't follow the rest of the people blindly like a pathetic sheep, but they are in fact seeking to be accepted by like minded people.

I like to think of myself as an individual with independant thought and actions, but I too am guilty of seeking the acceptence of those that I respect.

To put it a nutshell, as long as people are free to think the way they chose and to live the life they chose, there will always be problems, and people should be free to think and live the way they want.

Individualism is not an AOL keyword, it must be played out in real life.

There is a story for those, who think, we cannot agree in somethink same.

Quote:
Once upon a time, there lived six blind men in a village. One day the villagers told them, "Hey, there is an elephant in the village today."

They had no idea what an elephant is. They decided, "Even though we would not be able to see it, let us go and feel it anyway." All of them went where the elephant was. Everyone of them touched the elephant.

"Hey, the elephant is a pillar," said the first man who touched his leg.

"Oh, no! it is like a rope," said the second man who touched the tail.

"Oh, no! it is like a thick branch of a tree," said the third man who touched the trunk of the elephant.

"It is like a big hand fan" said the fourth man who touched the ear of the elephant.

"It is like a huge wall," said the fifth man who touched the belly of the elephant.

"It is like a solid pipe," Said the sixth man who touched the tusk of the elephant.

Do you think, any of those blinds were right about the elephant?

To know, how the elephant looks, you need eyes. The same is true about religions. You must not believe anything blindly, because your religious text says that it is true.

Buddha wrote:
Do not believe in anything simply because you have heard it. Do not believe in anything simply because it is spoken and rumored by many. Do not believe in anything simply because it is found written in your religious books. Do not believe in anything merely on the authority of your teachers and elders. Do not believe in traditions because they have been handed down for many generations. But after observation and analysis, when you find that anything agrees with reason and is conducive to the good and benefit of one and all, then accept it and live up to it

We all believe in love. Whether it be love of money, love of people, love of the individual, love of God, love of religion, love of life...etc. We all believe in love.

As Aristotle puts it, the direction of all of our actions is aimed towards some good, at least some relative good, and all goods aim at an ultimate good... which would be happyness...
