I'm making a new domain for my new site's.
Should I use a .tk,.co.nr or a .nl.tt domain for my site's?
Please tell wich one you have choosed and why.
I would choose the .tk domain but pay to get the intro removed via SMS for £1.50, I believe. I think you should have a .tk domain because it is shorter than a .co.nr and it will have no banners. How much does a .co.nr domain cost ?
(I have add .nl.tt, Can a moderator add on the poll the .nl.tt domain?)
Yes, do you want something adding ? Can't you add it, i thought users could
I'l cannot edit the poll.
The .co.nr domain is completely free but you must have a number of visitors per month to keep your domain running. Otherwise they will delete it. I prefer the .co.nr because it sounds more like a real domain for .tk it would be way better if it was www.yourname.com.tk so it would sound more realistic.
I dont want DotTk does with their introductory page before the actual homepage. I build a Christian website and what appeared before my index page is a banner that links to a somewhat near to be a porn site.
Note that like i mentioned above, you can get rid of it via SMS for £1.50
But how much USD is that and do they take USD? Not all live in england. I would get the .nl.tt .co.nr makes you put a banner on your site. I don't like that.
Its not a lot at all, maybe around 3 dollars although i'm not the best with conversions. It is probably also availble in the US as the money is taken from your SMS
Get it now. Sounds decent. And .com.tk would sound stupid. I would just buy a .com domain. They are cheap you can get it for like $10 a year.
ok. So do you mean I just send them an SMS text message? How does that deduct money? and can you give me a link to a page on their site discussing it...? I am looking through their support page...and see nothing regarding removing the intro.
I kinda prefer my frihost domain, and I have used dot tk in the past (several years ago) and considering looking into domans and paid hosts for future use. (mainly if I can create a high-traffic site or if I require more space; but thats a long way off)
I would go with .co.nr since it's like .co.uk . Most of my websites use .co.nr. The two main things you need for a .co.nr domain is at least one visitor a month and you need to place a button to their website on your main page. And don't forget, .co.nr is completely free.
Sorry I've replied late. If you login you should see Pay for Domain via SMS. I'm sorry that I cannot provide you with step-by-step instructions but I'm currently using a different laptop and it doesn't allow me to go to dot.tk I can give you instructions in 8 days time as this is when i can access my own laptop, try and find the option, if you cannot then i'll reply ASAP.
I have a NEC 3 cell which isn't on contract. When I sent the text instead of charging the usual 10p it charged about £1.50 instead. If your cell is on contract then I expect that you'll see the charges on your statement at the end of the month.
I don't like .tk redirection. I haven't seen a single site using their redirection services work properly on Opera, Firefox 1.5, nor IE 6 or MSN 9. Too bad those free .be domains don't exist anymore. I say buy a domain from godaddy if you really want one...
Don't worry about. I was just like "whoa never heard about that!". I am not considering actually doing. (maybe in a couple years, but by then I'd just go buy a domain) Oddly I can't even access *.tk sites anymore. Maybe its my popup blocker, IDK.
For some reason the site is cataorised as "sex" so I cannot access dot.tk from this hospital laptop. Seen as you don't need the instructions though I won't be in a rush to login there. The SMS payment method does work, I have done it.
I did not know that you do not have to put a co.nr link if you have at least one visitor per month.
wow. I am going to take out that link right now. This is sooo cool. By the way, does anyone know how to create an offline mailing page or site using Apache server for testing purposes only or can oyu at least refer me to a page that contains that information including a free functioning mailing server that is easy to use because I'm tired of going into fake sites that give me fake mailing servers that are so hard to use and configure and all of them don't work anyway.
im getting a real domain in a day or two, but when i used the free ones i tried all three. out of my experience .co.nr was best. it requires that little link but it was by far the best in terms of not spamming your site with weird junk.
Yea you are true on that one. I just am with you on getting the paid one. Its not woth a million and 1 ads on your site for somthing free when you can get a paid one for like 10 dollars a year.
All are bad .
It costs only 6$ for a domain and i sure if one cab afford an internet connection this is no big deal.
Using such free domains degrades ones brand image and people think that the site is a freebe site and not at all reliable as the domain itself is not reliable.
They wouldnt give u a penny for any service u offeron such domains and google rating for ur site would also be very poor.
Take my suggestion seriously and dont go for these domains and use an purchase domain or a subdomain instead.
PLs consider this .
Ronak and Pulkit
for for the .nr one visitor isnt alot and u can get that easily....dot tk uses too much adds..
I think this domain solve all your problems...
.net.tc & many more... - get it at http://www.smartdots.com
no link back requirement, no forced ads, proffesional looks, and free email@example.com email. Able to cloak domain. Provide free web scripts(guestbook,etc.).
Other good features like PathForwarding, allow you to have path on your domain like (www.yourname.net.tc/site), statistics, auto submission to 250+ search engines, Access protection - protect domain from disallowed access, plus WAP-ability (wap.yourname.net.tc). Check out more, http://www.smartdots.com/features/?LANG=US
I suggest you to use DNS domains, like http://www.uni.cc or http://www.no-ip.com.
P/s: Actually making poll here isn't necessary
I prefer .tk because is the easiest, the best with no ads (no intro, nothing), and is the shortest
I kind of like co.nr but since I lost my subdomain from their and I tried to sign up so many times and there were maintenence each time, I decided to go with .tk .When I learned that .tk had an option to remove the ads I was very happy and had a definite opinion.
I definitely like .tk more.
hey !! Didnt you know ?? You can always get rid of the banner of .tk for free !! Goto your control panel and then select Modify Domains
From there select a domain and then click on continue 2 times !! Then u will have the option to select between no banners or have banner or have a text link !!
I wont blame u for not seeing the link though, becoz they've almost hidden it for they dont obviously want u to see it !!
I would have to rate .tk as number 1 since they are a top level domain. However the problem is that they have alot of ads but you can easily disable it. However it can be slow sometimes which is the only forseeable downside to them.
raman.. .tk isn't a TLD.. Because it doesn't have the full function of a TLD.. What it actually does is a redirection..
For me the .co.nr redirection works perfectly... sounds professional and is aesthetically blends in with my websites homepage header!
But i would like to thank the user who mentioned
definitely a very comprehensive list of subdomains being offered!
.tk since it's the shortest and seems like an actual domain (Free!) no ads too. (Yes, no ads, if you get ads, you can turn them off in the marketing section for free)
Unfortunetly a big downside, it doesn't work on Firefox
you dont actually need to put .co.nr's banner on your site. look at mine www.hangout.co.nr and you'll see no banner. they've never contacted me about it or anything
