Scientology?? Isack Hayes stands up for it

ralphbefree
In recent news i read from AP that Isack Hayes, the popular voice of 'chef' on South Park has recently resigned. He stated reasons for his decision where based on the the recent episodes which contained satire towards Christian Scientology. Seems a little hypocritical to me, since he has been involved with the satire of every other religion during his tenure with the popular sit com. I am not sure of the ideology of Scientology and why it would rationalize this type of decision....
but either way Chef was the only voice of spiritual rationality for a whole subculture and now he's leaving.
anyone have any clue on why he would do this?

That sucks, I love chef, he's awesome, and nobody has a voice quite like Issac Hayes.

Kinda odd after all the things the show has done, he draws the line at Scientology.

Can you throw a link to the article up?

I agree, on the surface (without any further information) his [Isaac Hayes] decision to leave the show for the reasons outlined here seems very hypocritical. As was pointed out, that show has taken shots at just about every religion going (and famous people as well) and none of that seemed to have bothered him...so why quit now? I guess it's ok in his way of thinking to bash someone else's religion...but not his own.

I guess it's true...people who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.

Now it seems that the creators of South Park are preparing to take retalitory action, whatever clever means these delinquent 4th graders can condure up i suppose.

How much does Scientology influence mainstream media? It seems there alot of key players that are apart of this religion and they are bringing thier religious ideologies into thier business practices.

This does not seem ethical and it is starting to affect me, and this shouldn't be.

Well, it's easy to poke fun at other religions... but not your own.

*cough* *ahem* Far be it from me to point out the obvious, but I am not Christian, and I'm sure I don't have to explain how Christianity influences mainstream media, and therefore affects me. How come that's ok, but Scientology is not? Because it's not your religion? Eh?

If anything here seems unethical that does.

For years I have tolerated Christian dogma, Christian morality and Christian censoring of my entertainment. I have to sit back and roll my eyes as people who believe what I believe are mocked as being ignorant, evil or just plain misguided by mainstream Christian values.

If Scientologists take over, I'm sure it will be the same damn thing. *shrug* C'est la vie. I tolerate the Christians, I can tolerate the Scientologists. If I have a problem with it, I'll start making movies and stuff myself. That's my advice to you, too. Suck it up, princess. If you don't like Scientologists controlling your media, then make your own.

As for Hayes, he's a hypocritical schmuck. Like Vrythramax said, people who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones. He's not a particularly intelligent schmuck, though. By doing this, he's made Scientology a huge fricken bulls-eye. You just watch, the next few months, the Scientologists are going to get skewered. Boo hoo!

i want to see what the outcome of chef's future will be in the show. do you think they'd replace his voice with someone else? i don't think it would work if they did, it would be weird to have a different voice other than his.

maybe they'll kill him off in the first episode or something? haha, i wouldn't put it past them.

WoW I am so glad that I started to watch this topic. Today in my newcorner comes the latest development of the Scientology vs. South Park story....it might just be that .... a story!

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,188463,00.html

Here Roger Friedman confirms that he has sources that state that Isaac Hayes was actually in no condition to make business decisions.
Quote:
“Isaac’s been concentrating on his recuperation for the last two and a half, three months,” a close friend told me.

Hayes did not suffer paralysis, but the mild stroke may have affected his speech and his memory. He’s been having home therapy since it happened

As for Tom Cruise using his muscle to block the airing of the episode, there has been a huge backlash on the internet. And according to the fox news article Comedy Central is going to air it on Wed. at 10PM anyways.

There's a certain code of conduct in scientology which promotes the outcasting and shunning of anybody deemed an enemy or deserter of the 'religion'. Anybody who does go against or leaves scientology is termed as 'fair game', meaning they are liable to threats and other forms of abuse. Perhaps this is the reason isaac left south park.

Scientology is probably the only thing that i get really really angry about. I think its really sick, not like evil, but misguided. Scientology's creator once said "if you want to get really rich, invent a religion".

Now humanity really does have something to be ashamed of. Exclamation
