I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THE BUGATTI VEYRON!!! its absolutely brilliant and the best car in the world. Its the fastest, most expensive and most powerful. ITS AMAZING!!!!
yea all nice but it looks like something that has grown on the back of a witches ear for 10 years...
I'm afraid I must disagree. As far as I can tell, this is the world's fastest car:

Yes sure Bugatti for ever!
Another of that fantastic Italians cars from a great dinasty of winners!
Go Bugatti!

So true. I will go with this. It broke the sound barrior.
It looks real nice, I like the design and everything on it.
Hmm! talking abt 400++ KM/H and the price.
i will not go for this car, coz it;s not practical on road lol.
i rather buy a plane
the price and speed is kinda same anyway
the Buatti Veyron is no longer the fastest car.... there is one based on a motor bike chassis, allot faster, and road legal.... can't remember what it is called.... if anyone finds any info on it post back
Cheers

lol , Blaster , it uses jet engines and made only for breaking records.Bugatti is " car " just like other fast cars like Ferrari-Enzo , Mercedes Mc Laren SLR etc.
But i agree u can buy a small plain for same price.
Wow, it looks very hoooot!
But 407Km/h? Where can I drive so fast?
where have a highway that the limited speed is over 400km/h?
This car is useless now actually...
I found another extremely fast car people.
http://www.topgear.com/content/news/stories/599/
It'll do 375mph. Now that's so much faster than the Bugatti Veyron.
And unlike the car that broke the sound barrier the Bugatti Veyron and this new Acabon rocket car will be sold to people and there's a chance [very slim] that you could see them on the road

LAWL!!!! Thats one of the ugliest cars I have ever seen, and it has training wheels.
The Bugatti Veyron is amazing. Not yet tested, but it may be the fastest production in the world. It's one of the two cars with 1000+ horespower. Only ten of these cars shall be sent to the US every year. After all, it's the most expensive production car.
Design of Veyron is very bad. Ugly like a tank.

Ops my badd ! , yeah I guess u are right. But it doent have a look of a car at all.
What do you think about the Veyron's rival, the SSC Ultimate Aero? I personally like the Bugatti better but this car is awesome too.
aah thanx for the info...
Topgear promoted their next week's top story about a super car..
They only showed the car itself without any info, but now I know which car it is
It has a 7 speed gearbox and a top speed of 400+ km's?
Haha, if I actually owned this car I don;t think I'd ever take it farther then 54th, since that must be right around where 110km's is. (For highway driving)
Yeah, but the McLaren F1 was way ahead of its time (1993):

well yes this veyron 16.4 showed up in an autoshow near my place and caught up everyones eyes exquisitly, but u must change ur quotes. THIS IS NOT THE FASTEST CAR IN THE WORLD. ITS the car named KOINIGSEGG. checkit out on google.
Yeah but that veyron;s also nice. Do u know that if u brake at a speed of greater than 300, its also changes its spoiler elevation, so as to provide aerodynamic braking due to greater air resistance.
Hope u find this useful and check out bout KOINEGSEGG

the Bugatti Veyron is by far the best car that the world has ever seen. I mean the car has two V8's bolted together and four turbochargers. And Bugatti also lose over 4million on every Veyron that is made.
awful, I don't like that bugatti, I prefer the McLaren F1 all the way
What do you think???
You guys are gettin way too hung up on production cars. Its modifieds you want. Like zcar's ultima gtr, twin suzuki hayabusa motorbike engines (both turboed for some extra oomph) give this baby its power, check it out at http://www.zcars.org.uk/ultima/index.htm
Or if thats still a bit wussy wat about Charlie Broomfield's Rover SD1, heh
Engine:27litre V12 Tank engine
He recently converted it to fuel injection so his power figures are from when it was still runing on a carburettor, so power figures will now be higher than what I'm about to quote
1200bhp@(around)400rpm

Did anyone watch Top Gear? They raced a Bugatti Veyron vs. a Cessna 182 and the Veyron won...I dont' remember where they started, but they finished in London.

They started in Italy at the HQ of Bugatti IIRC. In any case the reason the Veyron won was 'coz it was a car show....they obviously HAD to make it win, not to mention that the Cessna had to take major deviations and stop for the non-scheduled refueling etc.
I would still go with the SLR McLaren though considering theres not too many places in the world (i mean actual roads, not race tracks) where you could go 300+kph legally and then it doesnt really matter which super-car you're in... i'd rather be seen in teh drop dead gorgeous Mercedes compared to that "thing"
I don't really care about the cars that don't even look like cars anymore... They look like rockets with weels. I will never be able to buy that car, so why even should I be consered
nice info all that is...... i like all the cars submitted in this post.........

So, what are these Cars good for? In my opinion, the last "FAST" useful thing was the concorde. You know, the supersonic airplane. Although it was very unefficient, it was able to carry some, not many though, people FAAAST over a wide distance.
But nowadays we stopped this beauty from flying, but never did some fast and useful thing again.
Don't hesitate to correct me, but I think cars that run extremely fast are good for nothing... maybe for dreaming, or maybe as a source of fascination or source or honeypot for ideas to improve technologies.... but the are seldom turned into a product that fits the needs of ordinary people.
Ok... if you are saying that the concorde wasn't for usual people... ov course I never flown with it. haha.. the tickets prices were waaaayyyy above my range. But still. It was of use for SOME people to travel fast, and they didn't have any relation to the flight industry. I'm stating this beacause if you say that someone could get useful ideas when driving around in a super expensive powerful mega car, he could ave some useful ideas or feedback.. hhmmmm... I think this would only be for automobile industry.... did you get what I mean?
So... I'll get to cover now... for that you can blame me for exploiting this car adicted topic for a unexpected point of view
Anyway.. I'll look forward to any comments

well you have some sort of point there
i guess its just an inherent "manly trait"...to try and go faster.... most of the time its just the rich boys play toy but dont forget the many hundreds of hours that go into making one of these cars.... helps employment
and really, the concorde too was just the businessmans/rich boys thing. bragging rights.... another "manly" trait
Yes these cars are not for family use. people dont use these to pack kids and visit their parents. 100% show off stuff. just for people who have too much money and dont know what to do with it.

Hmm... I appreciate that you agreed to my point. But as it comes down to the question wheter the Concorde was a rich boys toy or not, I would like to mention that that with a rich boys thing you don't do Business for more than 25 years. So in my opinion, it was a true product for the public (hmm well, you need some money to use the product) that allowed companys to do business for a long time.

well i think till there are rich boys to buy this kinda things there always will be a market and they can survive. Most of these Mega pirced car Manufacturers ve been in market more then 25 years they just change the models.

Its called the Ariel Atom..
Heres a link to a movie
And i'm pretty sure currently the fast car is the Barabus.
0-60 1.67sec (claimed)
Click this link for more info
And heres another related link
Its a beauty isnt it ? looks more like a fararri or McLaren F1 but still is it faster than bugatti ?

I think you'll find that the fastest road legal *production* car is the Koenigsigg cc (sp)
The fastest 0-60 road legal *production* car is the tiger z100 with 2.9s (proved not claimed) It has twin motorbike engines and is a lotus seven replica style car.
The ariel atom is in no way the worlds fastest car, it can't ever do 200mph (170 i believe is its top speed) It's fastest form is the one with the 2.0litre honda civic type R version with the supercharger. It aint based on a bike either.

No. So wrong. 375 mph is over 100mph faster than 407 km/h. 407 km/h is 252 mph, and that rocket car goes 375 miles per hour.

Speaking of old cars, I saw this last night:

| Quote: |
Year Make Model Engine HP 1/4 mile (seconds) 1/4 mile speed(mph) Source
1968 Plymouth S/S Barracuda 426 Hemi V8 525 ** 10.5 130 MCR

2006 Bugatti Veyron 16.4 8.0L W16 1001 10.8 140 CD
|
Now I know alot of this depends on the driver, the altitude, the conditiona and a whole host of other things, but its interesting to see the 1/2 mile times of what is said to be the worlds fastest road car, compared to 3 35+ year old cars that cost a fraction of the cost to build compared to the veyron.
Thats a great list Andrew426 , thx for sharing it
I heard that the SSC ULTIMITE"something" is the fastest car in the world

To end this discussion I give you the REAL worlds fastest production car, the Koenigsegg CCXR.
Although the Veyron has an extra 7 k's on the top end, the CCXR KILLS it in accelleration (0-100 in 2.9 seconds)
And it does it without a hideously heavy W16 but with a neat little 1,018hp V8 that even runs on BIOFUEL.
also looks better IMO
http://pimpwiz.com/2008/01/koenigsegg-ccxr-worlds-fastest-biofuel.shtml
So its settled.

Everyone knows the million dollar Bugatti Veryon is the fastest car in the world. But as of today Bugatti no longer will hold the title as the world's fastest car, as Barabus officially announced the new Barabus TKR. What's under the roof? It's an overwhelming 1005 horsepower car with Zero to 60 mph in just 1.67 freaking seconds! I wonder how it feels sitting in a car that has a top speed of 270 mph which is 20 mph more than Veryon. According to Leftlanenews, the car will be made in Italy. Barabus TKR will be available to the market with the price of USD500,000. Ok enough about cars, lets get back to the electronics.

Thrust SSC (SuperSonic Car) is a British-designed and built jet-propelled car developed by Richard Noble, Glynne Bowsher, Ron Ayers and Jeremy Bliss.[1]
ThrustSSC.ThrustSSC holds the World Land Speed Record, set on October 15, 1997, when it achieved a speed of 1,228 km/h (763 mph) and became the first land vehicle to officially break the sound barrier (not considering the earlier, unsubstantiated claim of the Budweiser Rocket).
The car was driven by Royal Air Force fighter pilot Squadron Leader Andy Green in the Black Rock Desert in Nevada, United States. It was powered by two afterburning Rolls-Royce Spey turbofan engines, as used in British F-4 Phantom II jet fighters. It is 16.5 m (54 ft) long, 3.7 m (12 ft) wide and weighs 10.5 tons (10.7 t). The twin engines developed a thrust of 223 kN (50,000 lbf) and burned around 4 Imperial gallons per second (18.2 l/s or 4.8 US gallons/s). Transformed into the usual terms for car mileages based on its maximum speed, the fuel consumption was about 5,500 l/100 km or 0.04 mpg U.S.
After the record was set, the World Motor Sport Council released the following message:
The World Motor Sport Council homologated the new world land speed records set by the team ThrustSSC of Richard Noble, driver Andy Green, on 15 October 1997 at Black Rock Desert, Nevada (USA). This is the first time in history that a land vehicle has exceeded the speed of sound. The new records are as follows:
Flying mile 1227.986 km/h (763.035 mph)
Flying kilometre 1223.657 km/h (760.343 mph)
In setting the record, the sound barrier was broken in both the north and south runs.
Paris, 11 November 1997.
In 1983 Richard Noble had broken the world land speed record with his earlier car Thrust2, which reached a speed of 1,018 km/h (633 mph). Both ThrustSSC and Thrust2 are displayed at the Coventry Transport Museum in Coventry, England.

I don't believe the Barabus is real. I think at this stage at least it's just a marketing ploy. Zero to sixty in less than 2 seconds is pretty hard to believe for a car, even one with 1005 hp. Not to mention the 270 mph top speed claim, which is completely unbelievable for such a car. I looked on the internet and nobody has ever reviewed this car or recorded it in motion. Nothing but promotional stills are available.
Not sure why there's so much hate; it seems to me that the Veyron is still the fastest production car in the world. It's definitely quicker to 60 (2.7 sec) than the CCX (3.0). According to Wikipedia the 259 mph top speed on the Koenigsegg is not officially verified. Until that point, the Veyron is the fastest.

Ultima GTR, anyone? Its debateable if its a production car or not, but it is not only faster, but also a fraction of the price of a bugatti veyron.
