24, genius concept or just luck?

the hit tv serie 24 with kieffer sutherland, has had a lot of success for the past years.
with it's new way of depicting action over one hour on every episode, it introduces in the world of conventional tv series a new way of putting action, compacted and incredibly intense.
was it really intended or just luck?
and will it impose itself as a new genre in tv series?

Of course it was intended. They didn't just randomly make a tv series and suddenly find out "Oh look, 24 episodes lasting exactly one hour. Isn't that convenient?". And it will be hard for other shows to copy the genre because they would be hard pressed to make the show different enough.

However, it is good for parodies.

24 Has a realy cool and original concept i think. Packed with loads of action it keeps me hooked on the tv hehe Cool
