Anybody a UFC fan? I am a big fan and just watched UFC 58 - USA vs Canada last night. It was very entertaining and the man I came to watch, George "Rush" St. Pierre was victourious and will get his much anticipated title shot.
I am a Canadian but I was not there to support Canadians but to enjoy the sport. It was a cool idea to do the US versus Canada but i like the fact that the fighters or the promoters did not in any way make it into a country battle but just a cool side feature of all the bouts. I went to a bar and it was fun to cheer for your country but at the same time if you really enjoy the sport you are there purely for the interest of the fight, not where they are from, which is just a secondary in my opinion. for and example the Rich Franklin fight was embarassing as a Canadian because it did not lok lke Loueauseu wanted to fight but I was sort of rooting for Franklin anyway becasue he has impressed me in the pass with hisskills and personality.
So did anyone watch and what did they think or about the UFC in general?
ufc is one of the greatest sports you can watch. i give so much respect to the fighters, they give it all and the danger factor is so extreme there. personaly, i would never be able to do that, gettting punched in the face is a fear of mine i guess. its cool that there going more mainstream now so more peope can watch it. LUKE CUMO IS AWESOME. i am so surprised that kid did not win the ultimate fighter, he was such and under dawg and destroyed when he got in that ring, granted, he did eat like a fattty afterwards. that dude is awesome.

UFC is definagtely entertaining but the man of all the MMA competitions is Wanderlai Silva. yes he has been beat but i have never seen such a good answer to the what to do vs. the shoot at the legs question.
I've become a UFC fan over the last year or so. I always thought it was a tad over the top, but I guess with the changes over the years with Dana White et al it's gotten better. I really enjoy watching the various techniques the fighters use (stand up vs. wrestling vs. martial art) to see which works in the different fights. I like Rich Franklin the best, I think because he used to be a teacher and now he beats people up for a living.
I like the dichotomy of that.
Hm I've watched it sometimes, and a few years ago, my brother bought a Playstation-game 'UFC' , it sucked big time though
.
We can't watch it here in Belgium, but i sometimes stumble upon movies on the internet, some nasty fights going on there:/
Big difference now from when it first started out. Anything went in the beginning, except groin kicks. Nasty stuff, awesome fights. It's not too bad now, they had to change the way it was. Someone would have been killed without a doubt.
Matt Hughes kicks butt, same as Chuck Lidell, miss Tank Abbott, Frank Mir, and I WILL miss Randy Couture

I think Matt Hughes is not as good as everyone thinks. I am no expert at all and it is definately easier said than done but if you really look at Matt's fights he has never really had any challenges, he is only the champ because he was gven the belt, he never won it in a title match. He is strong, very strong. George St. Pierre is going to kick his butt.
I love Silva just like the other guy and I wish he would come back to the UFC. He he been undefeated in Prride for like 5 years or something and he wins the Vale Tudo (Brazilian) tournament all the time.
Also, the heavy weight champ, Andrei Orlovski is crazy, heis the best I have seen.
There is one Russian guy, I am thinking in Pride that is awesome. Big guy , crew cut. Can't remember his name though. Saw him fight and I thought he was unbeatable.
Hughes and St. Pierre will be a good fight. The guy St. Pierre just beat, had beaten Hughes previously so it should be interesting.

The guy you are taking about I think is Igor Vovchanchyn. He is a crazy striker. He pretty much goes head hunting and if he hits you, your out.
Hopefully with all this UFC popularity more MMA , like Pride will start showing up as well.
Yeah, that is the guy. Awesome fighter.
Any predictions for tomorrow?
Should be a good show. Couple of good fights scheduled

Andrei Arlovski will win. He is at the top of his game and a as they say pretty much unbeatable right now. It may be a challenge but he will win. He has beat him Sylvia before.
As for the other main event I am not really sure. I do not like Tito as a personaility but I think Forrest has a real weird and unorthodox style which will not get him far. He is doing well becasue nobody is used to him but Tito is a smart guy. I will say Tito.
Burning to disk now, don't spoil it post the results yet ok?
UFC is craziness. I get a rush from watching it...when was the last time you said that about...golf
Royce Gracie vs Hughes.
My Prediction: After seeing old-school vids of gracie owning against MASSIVE giants that shoulda ripped him apart...I don't care how good Matt Hughes is supposed to be, Gracie is going to slowly pick him apart and in the end submit him. I do a little grappling with some friends from work and hopefully joining a gym soon to take some classes. UFC got me into it big time. Also gotta say Rich Franklin is a bad mofo.
I love the UFC, have since the Severn days. I don't really agree with the "Pro wrestlingization" of the sport (although I'm a big wrestling fan, I just don't like to see UFC in that realm.) PRIDE is also very good, if more styled towards boxing.
