ipods

People are now dressing their kids as iPods. What the hell is the world coming to?! I know iPods are 'in' right now, but isn't this taking things just a little too far? iPods are inanimate objects: sure, they make noise, like kids, but - do we need to dress kids up as iPods for that one SMALL similarity which to be honest, isn't really a similarity at all?!
windval
yes

i agree with you

the parents are so nonsense~~
Jeslyn
Dressing their kids? As in Halloween costumes?
boringest
hmm...do you have pics to show?

don't think there's anything wrong there...maybe it's the easiest costume to build?

I think you are all to young to remember the original Sony Walkman, and how it changed a whole culture.
The ipod is just a new generation of this. I remember my first walkman, I was 8. I remember my first discman, I was 16, now there's the ipod and I got it for my 28th birthday. Remember when everyone had to have a ghettoblaster a dual tape player, I remember having the little record player to play the little books that you read along with the 45s.
Get-over it. Fads come and go but hey, we are still listening to the music. It's just a new form of listening to music.

Ever heard of the iKids, Their ordinary kids except they look like iStuff's.

It shows adults as well as kids, but hey, I guess it is the easiest costume.

I checked the link. Am I missing the point of this whole issue? They were costumes for Engadget's Halloween Costume Contest. I mean it's a gadget halloween contest. It is perfectly normal. Now if the parents were sending their kids to school like that, then I might see the point of this discussion Cool
CWFwrestling
Is it just me, or do they look like the costumes for robots from some bad 1950's scifi movie? Sans the beeping helmet of course.
MYP415
Yea, some people are just crazy. They probably think they are cool or something by dressing their kids up as ipods to show that they know whats "in". Also in my opinion there are a lot of mp3 players otu there better than ipods (such as creative's) but ipods keep selling because its the most popular.

People dress up as bananas, U.S. states, tacos, why not ipods?

Good point...Thats a way to look at it definetly. But really man wearing food costumes is a little different. Because...you are what you eat.
Tugsy

Thats hilarious, Most of these costumes are custom made, Some from Giant Juice Boxes, Some that look ultra realistic while some just look like a piece of card board and drew on with a dollarama marker. Oh and the iPeople, That genuise, I think I know what I'll be for halloween this year.

I don't buy into the iPod hype. All they are is a cleverly marketed mp3 player, only much more restrictive with the format.

Sure it's great to hold a jazillion songs, but who is going to listen to them all, and there are equal capacity mp3 players out there.

Apple rapes you for the accessories.

It's just the latest "hip" thingy to won now that everyone who is over 3 has a cell phone now.

Hmm, I never thought about that. I assumed this discussion was about the laziness and frugality of some parents to just sandwich their kids between two pieces of white cardboard and call it a Halloween costume (I would have sandwiched them in gold cardboard and called them iPod Minis). It's the modern day version of putting a sheet over your head and going Boo!

BUT, maybe this discussion IS about some cities where the parents are so enamored with iPods (think Cupertino, CA) that they're trying to remake their kids in the image of iPods. A statement about the consumer obsessed society we live in. Something philisophical and thought provoking like that, yeah....then again, maybe not.

Kids sandwiched between 2 pieces of cardboard? Why am I reminded of an ice cream sandwich?
