The violent femmes? wazzat? anglo-french band? what style are they playing? where do they come from?

Anyways, The Violent Femmes have a tonne of good songs, pretty much everything off of their self-titled album is good.
What genre of music do they play?
I LOVE THEM. they're amazing. kiss off is one of my favorite songs of all time.

I think they were revolutionary for their time because a lot of bands are starting to develop simlar sounds to them now

I just learned how to play that one on my bass yesterday. I would consider them a very alternative rock band.
Speaking of bass, I think that the acoustic bass guitar is a wonderful instrument.
