Free domainname but no hosting

Hi, I have just registed a free domain name but it doesn't provide free web hosting. It provide a forwarding email.
Since it doesn't host any website, what's the use of this email? How can it forward the email to me?
Anyone can help to explain to me?

i guess it means you can have the email address

and then whenever ppl send an email to the above address, it forwards to the email you set the forwarding to e.g. your gmail account.

Well, host through frihost, or cjb.net, and then take your domain name, and make it link to your site on either one of those.

I have some questions here. Is the free hosting Frihost provided totally free or need a little $?
I have applied the free hosting last night. But until now it hasn't been handled yet. Can anyone who applied before tell me how long it takes to handle my application?
