Copying and pasting huge chunks of codes

Firstly, use a Pastebin, if possible.

But if you really are so desperate for the points/FRIH$ and the chunk of code is what YOU HAVE WRITTEN. Then feel free to do this,

Code:
[code]<?php
echo 'my code';
?>[/code]

But if you have copied and pasted someone elses code, then kindly do this.

Code:
[quote][code]<?php
echo 'someone elses code';
?>[/code][/quote]

That would give you this

Quote:
Code:
<?php
echo 'someone elses code';
?>

Anyone caught not doing this and is doing this very frequently will be sent a warning.

Just a thought -

I am brand new to web development (my frihost account request hasn't even been processed yet). As a result, I'm relatively fresh at writing code myself and everything. If I see something I like, it would be a great resource to me if I could copy and paste something like a layout format that I like...much as artists copy the compositions used by great masters to sort of improve their own work. In that case I suppose the echo code is a good call...still, is html code considered intellectual property?

there is, i beleive, an implied copyright on just about everything (code, essays, pictures) but it is not often payed attention to. To explicitly declare your code as free for public use, include the GPL in your source code.
