Howdy

Hi,
I'm a noob here, and am looking for a space to store information on my interestsm which are hiking, photography, antique radio restoration and Colorado geography/cartography. Hopefully there are people out there with any similar interests.

I live in Colorado and have recently moved from Colorado Springs to Denver. Although the night-life and cultural ammenities are better, I still drive to the 'Springs whenever I can to experience the close proximity to the mountains, and the fresh air.

I have an extensive series of photographs from the mountains of the front range, and a good knowledge of most major trails in the Pikes Peak region. My long term goal is to present photo-essays on each of the trails in my area, crosslinked with topographical maps.

I'd like to hear from others from around the world who have websites dedicated to photoessays of their local landscapes.

Welcome to Frihost Timpoff. Should be an interesting project to create a site like yours. I have worked web developer for a few years now and it is the first time ever I hear of an idea like this. Have a nice time here Exclamation

Do you go cross-country hiking? I find that to be the most enjoyable, though it is the most arduous.

Thanks for the welcome! There are several good sites providing excellent coverage of hiking major trails and peaks, but I would like to provide trail information for the road less traveled. Ideally mapping, photographs and narrative could be seamlessly integrated into a web interface. I suspect that realizing this goal will take a lot of time and effort - hopefully I can hammer it out. For now, I'll provide links and author a few trip reports.

I enjoy day-hikes of up to 15 miles round-trip, but prefer 5 to 7 miles due to to the afflictions middle-age. I stay on the trails whenever possible, but have been known to do a bit of scrambling to photograph that perfect shot. I'm planning a 3-day hike with the boys for next summer to explore the Tenney Peaks, it should be a good time.
