There have been a number of major disasters of late that have resulted in public charity appeals on TV or in magazines, papers, etc. I think everyone was equally horrified at the newsreels of the S.E. Asia tsunami & the recent earthquake in northern Pakistan. Yet the money raised for the earthquake appeal was only a fraction of that recieved for the tsunami appeal.
Do you think that the general public is now becoming de-sensitised to disaster? Does the nature of the disaster, or its location, have any bearing on the level of donations? Or are we simply running out of money to donate?
