You're right, the guys of Sick of it all are greats...
I would like to see them in live.
ew, the only "hardcore" i would ever consider listening to is skacore, and even THAT is usually really crappy.
I lean more on the harcore punk, but listens to metalcore bands every now and then. I have a thing for speedy beats and such. I also like post-hardcore.
Well, I dont wanna make a long list so these were my favourites
The Misfits
The Dwarves
Black Flag
Hatebreed
Norma Jean
Slipknot
From Autumn till Ashes
Glassjaw
Boysetfire
and Sick of it All. I just adore them.

hey if you like glassjaw, you might not like this, but it has the same lead singer and its pretty interesting to hear him doing something else. Check it out: Head Automatica.

yeah, I pretty know the band, I dont care if they changed genres anyway, I like Daryl's voice and when I heard the first single of HA, it kinda reminded me of him, so i did some research and it turned out it was them *shrug . well, he and another member of glassjaw, i mean. But still, i like the song and the way he delivered it.
Seems like Daryl get tired of his angst *chuckles
I just have discovered a great old-school HxC band :
Knuckledust !!!
it's awesome, for the fans of Hatebreed, born from pain
and sick of it all, agnostic front...

hurrr...Modern life is war </3 ...rruh
Sounds like CRAP. Horrible, just horrible. Learn to make proper vocal noises before making a song.
One of the things i hate about hardcore is the attitude of the bands, they think that are kind of evil guys that's such a lame, but the music is OK, don't bother me at all.
evils have nothing in common with HxC
And I don't see how the bands think that are kind of evil guys...
it's important : Hardcore is not metal !!!
and for madsencarl : HxC and metal musicians play instruments,
and what they play is often difficult... it's different of the rap "boom box"
( I joke... a french hobby i will say
)
listen to bands like pelican, cult of luna, isis, Amenra, Opeth or
Orphaned land... they have all very beautiful music

please, don't say only 15987 band names...
It's better ( i think ) to say just 5 or 6 bands, and tell us what
HxC style it is ( noise, brutal... ). I f I want, I could put in the forum
more of 100 bands, but I think it's not attractive.
And second thing : Mastodon, Strapping young lad are awesome bands
but not HxC

and... pls dont get mad, I'll just point some bands that i think are not hardcore. and damn, even though its a bit close to metalcore, its very differnt from metal itself. well, i can't sift everything because i dont know all of them
alex is on fire -emo
children of bodom -metal, but i dont know the subgenre. im quite illitirate in metal.
mettalica

I like mixing myself into stuff I don't know so: Well isn't post-hardcore included in hardcore? Hardcore is a very generic term.
I also like glassjaw a lot, agree it has a touch of Metal but it isn't the only Hardcore band flirting with Metal. More important if Hardcore always stick to very limited rules, it will just run in circle as many bands already do. So welcoming stuff on the borderside is more cool I think.
I'd like to add some albums of new bands that I think Hardcore but at borderside:
Die Princess Die - Die Princess Die
Circle Takes The Square - As The Roots Undo
Sex Positions - Sex Positions
Vultures - Great Discoveries & Plasma Ticks
The last is my prefered and even I found it a great one (like a lot Die Princess Die and Sex Positions but not as much).
I found Vultures as Hardcore because the sing is, because the music has power and violence of Hardcore and isn't Metal at all. But well no idea if it's really Hardcore, I don't think many people fill it in this category.
Also the Die Princess Die has some songs not Hardcore at all but for some, it's quite near to Hardcore.
I let you check if they are Hardcore or not, don't worry about my previous post, it was just a remark, I don't want debate about that.

your my friend !!!
it's right there are very good HxC bands in France like Disturb
( just one exemple )
I think metalcore is a fashion, but I love brutal death metal and there are some good metalcore bands.
Talking about frech metal bands, I've listened Dagoba's album, it's quite good band.
Another french band is Psykup, but it's not metalcore

right! DEP is an awesome bands...
but for 99,9999999% of people, they play a horrible music.
in the same style, you can find Psyopus, ion dissonance, daughters,
???? (four questions mark, a french band, between meshuggah and DEP )
Ok it seems that the majority in this thread have no concept of the sub-genre hardcore as a whole. It is true that a lot of hardcore is evil-based but "horrible" is just a matter of opinion. Infact I may point out that Rave and arguablly Old Skool (situated maybe in Jungle if you want to argue about it) are based withhin in the sub-genre that are anything but evil-based and mostly evolve around happy melody fun time. And has everyone forgotten there's a whole genre (the most unfortunatly popular genre that got all the money) called HAPPY hardcore. Another example is the cross-overs from trance into hardcore* that are again not really like you have been describing. My final conclusion: a lot of people should open their eyes a bit more...

we're not talking about the Hardcore music wich derived from the electronik music
( even if i like listening to this type of hardcore )
we're talking about the music like the NYHC, the music wich derived from
the punk...
these two styles have nothing in common, except their name
you too

i thought they're in a long break at first but as time wears on, they're starting to have a 'too' long break. meh. the thing is, the band is disbanded but the former bandmates are still connected to each other like helping on the production, promoting the band of the other in their sites, etc. they never loose contact to each other but i think glassjaw is dead. too bad.
In my opinion, hardcore is crap. However, I live in Chicago, and there is a pretty huge hardcore/grindcore scene here. Check out:
