Olympics

I was watching the Olympics this afternoon, and I was just wondering how many people are watching them. I like the figure skating when they start doing that, and the bobsled is always cool. I'm not much into curling or speed skating. What are some Winter Olympic events that you watch?

i always kinda like the one tha a skier makes a huge jump out of a snow ramp, dont know the name of the sport but they seem to fly! Surprised

I will watch skiing. Croatian team pretend to get some medals this year!!! Janica Kostelic is in great form. Croatian bob team is a miracle, becouse in Croatia has no bob facilities. Croatian skeleton guy also is a weird, nearest skeleton ramp is 1500 km from Croatia, but he does more than 800 rides last year...
Opening was great, I saw it on TV. Fantastic show. Specialy when ferrari formula 1 shows at stadium.

Curling - one of the few Olympic sports that the British team ever win any medals for. Cool

I remember enjoying the olympics as a kid, switching between networks and watching different sports all day. It was exciting. Since the broadcast has become a monopoly, it seems that the network spends more time on profiles and stories of the athleets than they do on the actualy events. It is almost unwatchable. Shocked

I like Olympics very much. I'm from Slovakia and we don't have many athletes who might win some medals, but there are at least some (although Olympics aren't about medals, are they). We are mainly looking forward to ice hockey. But I like watching almost any of the sports taking place there and of course athletes from other countries. I think it is very nice event and effort and joy of attendants can be benefit for everyone. These Olympics have nice slogan: Passion lives here

I agree. NBC's coverage in the US is terrible. First of all, it isn't live, so there's no need whatsoever to switch between sports. You can show the entire snowboarding competition in maybe an hour or an hour and a half at the most, but they switch anyways. Then people have to watch everything, even the sports they don't care about in order to see the end of the sports they do care about because all the endings are broadcasted at around 11:00pm which is terribly late and by that time I'm too sleepy/cranky to enjoy anything anyways.

I watch snowboarding most (go USA!) but I watch all sports of the olympics when they are on.

I think that the figure skating is very lame, I think that the judges play too much of a role in the outcome. I have to agree that the curling does'nt offer much for entertainment value on the MENS side of the competition. However have you seen some of the women competitors from the U.S. and Sweden, the eye candy was able to keep my attention for quite a while.

Yah the new scoring system for Olympic figure skating just takes away creativity from the program. The sport is becoming a number game where competitors just do random moves that will get them the most points and thus lose sight of the creativity of the program.

In my opinion the Olympics are boring since they're on all the time and the sports aren't very thrill seeking, although the snowboard cross looks pretty cook.

The Winter Olypmics are pretty good this time!
Ski Jumping's the best....closest man comes to flying lol.
Couldn't believe when the American winning the Snowboarding decided to try a trick with 100m to go...and fell!! Ended up coming 2nd!
Sortof served her right.
She should a made straight for the line! Lost out on an olympic Gold!
Aw well, there's always another chance....

I have been watching, and they are great! I'm Australian, except for one or two events I'm free to go for who-ever I feel like. I am a big fan of the skiing: the different forms of downhill, cross country, and I particularly like biathlon. It's so good to see people competing so well.

I pity all the people who have only one station showing the olympics. In Australia it's like that and they concentrate on endless ice dancing which is pretty boring. Here in the UK we have a cool free cable thing where you can choose which sport (pretty much a direct feed of live events) you want to watch from BBC2. That means you can watch the freestyle ski jumping, and switch across to the ice hockey.. what ever you feel like instead of having it chosen for you. It's great!

So far the big talking points for me are: The massive hype about the US/Austria clash in downhill... Austria showed up but the US didn't seem to turn up for the party. I'm also pleased to see Asian nations starting to do well, with Korea, Japan and China all in with a show.

I'm Italian but I'm not in Turin. The Winter Olympics are going to finish, Sunday is the last day.

Olympics were bad--no offence italians. The problem was that there was no real feeling of olympics. Just remember Lilehamer. I think it is better that games are in a small city where everything is together one olympic village so on.... Turin is too big its a million city....
