What do you think about raffles on eBay?

I was kind of wondering about this. I have seen a few users doing raffles on ebay for items like iPods and PSP. At first I though it was a great idea, but then I started getting thoughs like "Well if you loose you don't loose much" and "I'm probably not going to win." Still it was a little cheaper than buying a normal item, because technicly other people are paying for the item. I wanted to get the opinoion of other people on this.

The potential for a scam is quite high though, if they simply invent a winner and keep all the profits for themselves. Like everything on eBay I would think twice about something like this... Confused
