best phpmyadmin database exporting format

What's the most compatible of all phpmyadmin's exporting formats?

I explain myself. At home I have phpmyadmin 2.0(just because I'm a procrastinator and don't feel like upgrading). When I export my database I don't want to lose ANY data, which always happens anyway.

How should I export so I don't lose any record on the database when I re-import it?

I'm not sure of the exact format. but I know it's the default one that I have. and I'm assuming it's the default for you as well. If you are talking about this server at least.

Use the sql compatible format .
It would output ANSI sql statements. Donot forget to export both the table structure and the data.
The output could be exported to any relaional database e.q. Oracle , Microsoft SQL , postgre SQL apart from mysql.

I'd use .sql over .tar.gz Smile.

1. tar.gz generates more server load when uploading back..
2. With tar.gz, you cannot see the SQL statements Razz
