over heating gfx card

yer i have a really stupid gfx card which over heats way to much
i can play games but they always crash!

i put a fan next to my comp, that seems to help it too noisy

I have a TI4200 Nvidia agp 8x

i think is a awesome gfx card, it's getting old but if i can fix the over heating problem it'll be a great gfx crd again for a while

and before you say get a new gfx card i'm a poor bum!

i can't even buy anything of $50 per week! that is after rent, food and other must needs!


does anyone have a solution??

would greatly appreciate if you have a idea!

If you can get a small fan in the PC just next to the Graphics card, you need more air ventilation in there, you can get cheap and decent and silent fans to help.

Adding more cooling is the only suggestion that I can offer, as well. How many fan ports does your PC have, and how many of those are filled?

What you can do is buy a Thermaltake Crystal Orb VGA fan and replace the fan that is currently on your graphics cards. I think you can purchase one cheap for about 10-12 dollars at sv.com They are actually quite simple to replace although a little nerve racking for first timers. There are quite a few guides out there that tells you how to replace one. Just make sure you clean off the old thermal paste and apply new layer of thermal grease such as Arctic Silver.

Apart from cooler fans you could put ram heatsinks on the ram modules of your card!

Have you overclocked your gfx card? Maybe when using no heavy graphic demanding applications you could underclock a bit your card in order not to crash.
