yes, but just like this topic it encourages people to post new topics instead of adding to similar topics.

This would make people create unnecessary topics that there is already a debate on. It would probably be better to have things that are similar grouped into one large topic, rather than 200 small, nonuseful topics. It would probably reduce page load times for the forum index. If this was a reality, it would encourage forum misuse by a significant percentage. It's like rewarding someone with candy after they smash your TV and take your money.
