They really aren't that bad for what they are - a band that countless thousands (if not millions) of teen-age girls obsess over. I used to be obsessed by them (in like, year 2).
Going down another age-group - I don't personally like Hi-Five's or the Wiggles "music" - but I can see it's good for what it is.

1. Coldplay
Let's face it, they're more boring than car insurance adverts on daytime tv. Which is interesting because they are also quite big on daytime TV like Richard and Judy...They're the new U2, they've have done everything Radiohead did to be successful (thus ripping them off) and then did everything Radiohead didn't do which has elevated Coldplay into the position of completly useless celebreties. Thank god they're 'not gonna be about for a while'. bring back Radiohead!!!
2. David Grey
Well the name says it all. It's generic music for Ikea living rooms of middle-aged insurance salesmen who let's face it aren't 'that' into music or anything tasteful... Boring boring boring boring.
3. Pete Doherty
This man is not a genius, he is a junky. I am sound engineer and have worked with him. He can barely even speak never mind write music. The world wouldn't miss him, but the drug dealers would.
4. The "whatever's"
Generally referring to these disposable indie bands that are clearing the shelves of Topshop's indie clothes shop factory....Anybody ever realised the word means independent...ie: independently produced, released, written, designed... The bottom line is if you brought someone from the 60's into the modern day and showed them these bands they'd think world hadn't evolved in the slightest bit! BUT IT HAS!!! Stop waisting your precious time and money and do not buy this music. LOOK for your own music that suites YOU.

Apologies for the strong opinions but then I am a tad cynical for a 20 year old. You gotta love it baby.
