Does anyone know of any free FTP clients for Mac OSX? Or can you FTP using something in the OS? If so, could someone tell me how to do so? Thanks.

You can FTP using finder + terminal I believe, but I'm not sure. I'd recommend Fetch (free for students) or Cyberduck. Both have worked well for me.

have heard about Transmit. dont know if its paid or not 
If you use Firefox, all the extensions are platform-independent. Why not have a look at FireFTP - it's an excellent, fully featured FTP client and it's totally free. It's also only a 90Kb download! The drawback is that you need Firefox, but that's only a drawback if you don't use it already.

Cyberduck is the best free FTP client that I've tried so far. It's also pretty easy to use.
