Web Cam on Mobile phone.

Hi all'

I have a motorola C975 phone and would like to see my webcam on it.

The webcam is served from my own PC and can be seen on the net through normal browsing.

When browsing my site with the phone I can see jpg's etc., but not the webcam?


I have also installed Opera Mini browser, it's better than the Orange home page, but still no joy with the cam.

The phone supports java apps (like Opera is), the cam is a flash type thing!

Any help would be good (don't google it I've tried).

Your phone supports Java applications, not java applets. It's likely that your webcam output will show in a java applet, but it could also be a flash file. Opera Mini allows basic browsing functionality, but does not support advanced features such as javascript, embedded movies, sounds, flash, shockwave, and most other multimedia content. This is because the amount of data that has to be transferred back and forward is quite large and on a standard WAP or GPRS protocol, it would take a long time and would use a huge amount of data. That would cost you a fortune.

Even 3G phones will probably not support such advanced features for a while, so the simple answer is that you can't and won't be able to see your webcam's output via your mobile phone.
