There isn't, which isn't strange as music isn't a style property of a web page, but active content.

For more info, try this:

But I would like to point you to the fact that music that autostarts when loading a page is really annoying, even if you like the music.

And furthermore, it can make your page take forever to load, dude.

Wrong. MP3 files aren't allowed without permission, Midi files (those that just have the MIDI) are allowed Wink

what about SWF files that have music :p I found this was the simplest way to embed music available to all browsers.

SWF files with copyrighted music are not allowed..

If you ever want to broadcast mp3 on your website:

- Ask for permission of the author
- If it's yours (so no copyright problems), i think it's fine, but ask frihost anyway. that's surer
- use this crazy tiny swf player

Hope this helps Smile

Where can I find the best music player for my site?

One other option is to stream from a licensed streaming site like Pandora http://www.pandora.com/. They provide a link for your customized radio station or a java script that lets you visitors choose from all your radio stations (you can have a hundred).

It's what I plan to do. I checked with Bondings and he said there seemed to be no problem. Since Pandora is licenced there aren't any copyright issues and the stream comes from Pandoras site so there shouldn't be too much of a bandwidth issue. The player is flash based and has controls for volume, pause and of course turning it off. One problem though for non-U.S. residents. Pandora does not have an international license so they ask for your zip code to make sure that you are a U.S. resident. Makes me wonder how many people that use this very cool service (I'm listening to an excellent stream right now as I write this) are from the 90210 area Laughing .
