Speed Up Firefox
Here's something for broadband people that will really speed Firefox up:
| Quote: |
1.Type "about:config" into the address bar and hit return. Scroll down and look for the following entries:
network.http.pipelining network.http.proxy.pipelining network.http.pipelining.maxrequests
Normally the browser will make one request to a web page at a time. When you enable pipelining it will make several at once, which really speeds up page loading.
2. Alter the entries as follows:
Set "network.http.pipelining" to "true"
Set "network.http.proxy.pipelining" to "true"
Set "network.http.pipelining.maxrequests" to some number like 30. This means it will make 30 requests at once.
3. Lastly right-click anywhere and select New-> Integer. Name it "nglayout.initialpaint.delay" and set its value to "0". This value is the amount of time the browser waits before it acts on information it receives. |

Now that's a contradictory post. Usually speed is directly proportional to Internet enjoyability. May I ask why you don't prefer firefox?
thanks for the firetune links, I will try it now.
I hope I can download something more faster than now....
where firefox is a good browser it does have some disadvantages to other browsers. Regardless what macromedia says in their docs layering flash objects and layers in dhtml well probably give you a different (read likely not working properly) result. Firefox deleted all my bookmarks once without notifying of course and without leaving any trace of the previous file - sucks big time : sometimes you take the effort of bookmarking and over a period of time you save a lot of really good URLs. There are many bookmark FF, the good readers interpretes this (like me) that I'm not the only one who experienced this kind of behavior.
Nothing is fail safe. Everyu thing has to have faults. Its just that some of them haven't been discovered yet. But thats kinda getting off topic. Nice find Car Audio! It's surprising how much better that simply editing some values can make firefox.
We should support fireworks, because competition is good for browser.Since netscape defeated by ie,ie improved so slow.
but now i think :myie2 browser is more than fireworks, hope fireworks try to hard.
Thx,your supply is very usefully.
I will use it in firefox.
Thank you for the tip, it's easy and improve a lot the firefox speed without third programs
.
I think that options will make firefox to don't display some things!

please elaborate on this. what would not be able to display after using this tweak?
The latest releases of the Firefox browser and Thunderbird email client break extensions built by third-party developers, and new versions of the flawed software are expected to be released this week
firetune is great thanks for the links guy
im on dialup not sure if ive noticed any difference but it got rid of that page not found message
about the little speed up. Don't some servers recognize it as a denial of service attack? Of course you'd have to make your max.requests a huge number but I believe you run that risk. Although it is useful.
