I am working on starting up a Mambo website. I am a photographer and the website will be a magazine tha showcases my model photography (no porn). The thing is that I have worked with FrontPage before for a few simple websites, but I have never used Mambo before.
How good is the support for mambo here?
Are glamour photos not allowed here (no nude photos, only some implied)?

I tihnk you might just get away with it. The rules ban porn, but pictures like this: http://thumbs.fotopic.net/731025000502.jpg aren't exactly porn so as long as there not worser than this you might be accepted
That is exactly what implied photos are. A thong, lingere (non see thru), and hand covered top is the limit of implied.
If anything shows (nipple, or pubic hair, or etc..) then it gets deleted on the spot because the models review all the photos just after the photo session.
That is good news then. Thanks for the info. I just wanted to make sure.
you know clothing can actually look pretty cool too

why dont you make your own template with photoshop. designs the template quick as that, really easy and code it with dreamweaver. just open the template... and click on code. copy that to your host and voila. you already got your own website
@ Solarex
With mambo, it isn't just: make your template with photoshop and upload it...
it also needs some coding work... like... where should the banner be coded, where should the LogIn form be coded... It isn't all as easy as you think...
mambo / joomla is a nice CMS to use. some of the the image galleries associated with it are
- gallery2
- zoom gallery
- pony gallery
but you can also load another site inside joomla using a feature called wrapper
so if you have a standalone gallery then you can show that inside joomla.
a very good gallery software is 4images, but there is no integration with joomla as yet.
templates are also available in plenty. you can look at
http://joomla.org
http://joomlaya.com
http://joomlaos.de
http://joomlart.com
http://joomplates.com
these are joomla specific links, cos i support them. they will work with mambo, at least for now.
cheers
grr.. sorry double post
This should've been closed a while ago...
I have used Frontpage before, but have found it to be too limiting for what it can do, or more like what I could do with it. The real problem was that the host that I was using did not support the Frontpage extensions.
If I decide not to use Mambo, What other web-publishing software would you suggest for a rookie like me (to publish an online magazine) and why? I am not a web developer. I am just a photographer that had played around a bit with Frontpage.
I have never used Dreamweaver. How good is it? How easy is it to use? Does it make more sense to use a pre-made website template and just substitute my own text and graphics?
