Newsgroups..

Okay, I know I can use them in outlook express, but I don't want to.

So, is there any other way I can see newsgroups? (microsoft ones).

I prefer doing it within my broswer (firefox/internet explorer).

I use Outlook Express too, but I don't like the fact that Outlook Express doesn't handle yEnc encoded files on NewsGroup. Anyone have a work-around other than YProxy Pro?

http://www.yproxy.com/ypro/ [This is not a plug for their product. It's just that I don't know of any other work-around.)

You can use Thunderbird for newsgroups. And I suspect there is probably an extension somewhere which will do it in FireFox.

http://xnews.newsguy.com is a "news browser"

If you want to see newsgroups within your browser, you better use Opera browser, its free and have a built in newsgroup client. I'm not sure however if it's capable of decoding YEnc.
I used to read newsgroups through Outlook Express, but I switched to a stand alone newsgroup reader. I found some great free clients.
I suggest this one: 40tude

it's free, easy, support many servers and can decode YEnc too Smile

Google groups are actually newsgroups with a web front end. You can join, post and read through their interface: groups.google.com.

Thanks

Why not use Agent, done by Forte. I use this already for years and it is a great program. Not openSource but I like to make a difference for this program.

Check it out at: http://www.forteinc.com/agent/index.php
