Proactively connecting Apache to the browser

polarBear
Is there any way I can force Apache to send something to the browser independently of what the browser asks for?

Something like audio streaming, but for text/plain, text/xhtml+xml or even image/png, with no client scripting or browser plugins involved.

Has anybody ever heard about it ? Where should I begin searching?

I think you may try to build an Apache module to realize that, but I still could not understand why you want to do it.

There are other ways to send back some materials to client browsers without its request, for example, CGI program, Servlet etc.

I don't think I understood your request clearly, so maybe what I answered is not what you want.

I don't understand neither... but I think that if you use mod_rewrite you can send whatever you want even when the request points to a directory or to anything... (if thayt was what you wanted to know). But if that wasn't... then explain a little more what you want.

Here you go

Could you explain what you mean, give an example or something:

If you mean (I think you mean this) to just send a user something without the user asking for it, you can't.

Sorry, I was messing with really confusing concepts, and got a wrong idea.

Thanks anyway
