And I'm wondering... what mod or hack would be good? Can you guys recommend some? Something that would produce better interaction with members maybe cashmod and the shop mod. this 2 should be enough i guesss, the rest depends on your members and you
I find to spice up forums is to improve the interface
Here are a couple of mods you might want to use:

And maybe a few bbcode mods from either http://www.phpbb.com or http://www.phpbbhacks.com maybe try some cashmod or reputation mod, could be fun.
But don't overuse hacks/mods... Too many ain't good and will mess up your forum.
Also when you've installed tons of mods, it would be hard to change your template. So don't overuse

It allows people to post to a forum through e-mail like Yahoo Groups does.
I'm not thinking for this forum, but for forums located on people's sites. WEll i would like you to keep your forum simple by not adding many mods to it. Just install a few stylish themes , they make your forum look good and other thing is design some nice looking rank images for your users. that just make the forum look good. As for as for the mods It depends on the kind of your forum. In my opinion cash mod is the one that you need to install first and then if you want your users to attach files then you will need to have the attachment mod. but its a bit difficult to configure mods with more than one theme.

I think it constitutes as free file hosting, in which case it's not in accordance with the Terms of Service, therefor, you're risking your account being deleted.
Marston, the Attachment Mod is allowed on Frihost.
We meant Free file Hosting as in something like..www.yousendit.com and etc.
