If you don't know what GBYSO is then you should have "no" as the answer to are you trying out (auditioning) for it.

Sorry, I dont' live in Boston >.< but when I saw your question it reminded me of something in my hometown so I had to answer and see if I was right xDD

Here in Dallas though its called GDYO - Greater Dallas Youth Orchestra, and even though the name implies only string instruments, both band and orchestra instruments are allowed. You have to be really really good though, they only accept the top muscians.
